Last Minute Find

Hubby and I had planned on camping at the Pawnee Grasslands a couple hours east, but it was so overrun with bugs we ended up finding this hotel late at night. Had to go next door to the Comfort Inn to check in but the front desk staff was very friendly and very helpful. Gave our little pup a giant milk bone. Small bathroom but definitely not terrible!

Small but Satisfactory

The room was very clean and had hard floors which made me feel better in case my dog had an accident as the one problem with the place is there is nowhere for your pet to go potty. Thankfully my girl held it but it definitely gave a bit of reassurance that it was hard flooring. Staff was very nice. Pet rooms seem to be lower floor and we had parking right in front of our door which made unloading and loading very convenient!

Never Again

My husband and I arrived to the hotel to discover the AC unit was broken. It clearly had been for a while because the room was suffocating. I have an autoimmune disease that the heat makes worse and I was starting to shake the minute we walked in. My husband went to let someone know and they said it would be about 5 minutes. No problem. I had to go jump in a cold shower to try and keep from blacking out, but after 20 minutes, no one had come to look at the unit. Turns out the first person never let anyone else know.

A guy showed up to fix it and was satisfied with vacuuming the unit out and saying it was fixed. We gave it a half hour to cool down and when it didn’t, my husband let them know. The maintenance guy came back with a new unit because they didn’t have any spare rooms to move us to and he made it very obvious how annoyed he was to be replacing the unit. Even though this place just had remodeling done, there was evidently a leak that kept popping up; my husband and I thought a dog was peeing in the hall it was so much water.

There is a small lawn area for dogs, technically there’s a less maintained field right behind the pet area that we also used for our dog. Do NOT take your dogs out past 10:30. I did and saw a coyote walking 200 ft next to my dog and me. Housekeeping came and didn’t bother restocking our toilet paper which was fun to discover too late. We also decided to stay an extra day to see a friend and the front desk was completely unhelpful with it. I ended up having to get ahold of Fido to get help. Personally, I’m only giving them 2 bones because they were technically dog friendly and the guy did come replace the AC unit, but the staff was less than helpful and even rude at times. Will seek other hotels the next time we’re in Olathe.
