Great versatility for dog
Yahoola Creek ParkThis large park close to downtown Dahlonega has a nice creek with easy access for dogs and people for wading. This is located before you get to the trails. You need to walk beyond the athletic field to get to the trails. There is an easy trail through the woods adjacent to the athletic field. Another trail heads up upwards into the woods (blue and red marked). This is a more strenuous trail. Restrooms are available right next to the trailhead. A great location for dogs and people.
Beautiful falls
Amicalola Falls State ParkAfter reading other reviews about the steps and metal spike-like gratings, we decided to drive to the upper parking area and walked the east access trail (West Ridge Falls Access). Short and easy walk to a beautiful view of the falls. There is a metal “spike” grate on the bridge overlooking the falls but our dog did ok with it. If your dog is used to wearing booties, that would solve problems with much of the surfaces if doing the long trail. At the Top of Falls parking area there’s a little picnic area and an overlook of the falls.
