We had stayed at this hotel when it was a Candlewood Suite years ago before it changed to Sonesta and started allowing pets. There is a $25 per day per pet fee, ostensibly for cleaning after the pet has been there. Sonesta's plan instead is to stuff the air conditioner with cachet scented bags to try to cover pet smells. The result is a cloying, sickening smell and an oily residue left on the tile floor of the room. We couldn’t go anywhere else the first night and stayed there with the bugs (yes, bugs roaming the floor) and the rusted metal bedside table.

Also, another guest came to the front desk to tell them that a used syringe was on the floor in the hall next to the trash can. We checked out a day early to go stay with my sister in law an hour away. Inconvenient but away from the sickening smell. The room was booked through BringFido which requires the room be paid for and is non-refundable (according to the booking agreement to get the room). The people at the front desk were as apologetic as they could be and refunded the pet fee. I guess we know now why they make the reservation non-refundable. At all costs, do NOT STAY HERE!
