Great spot to stop!
Halifax County Visitor Center Dog RunWe saw billboards for this dog run on our trip from NY to FL. It was a great place to stop and let our puppy run about for a bit. There were two runs, one for small dogs, one for large. And there were balls in the runs for the dogs to play with, as well as a water fountain for a quick drink. The restrooms at the visitor center were very clean. And our dog enjoyed a Milkbone, collapsible water bowl and ball—all free!
Fantastic dog park
Dog Park at Bayfront ParkThis is one of the nicest, largest and most well-maintained dog parks we’ve ever been to! There is ample shaded seating for pet owners and plenty of room to roam for dogs. It’s split into two secure areas, one for small dogs (under 25 lbs) and one for dogs over 25 lbs. The artificial turf means it’s always green and easy to clean up after your dog. We brought a ball launcher and there was plenty of room to throw it so my dog got to use up a lot of her puppy energy. It’s adjacent to the Dogs & Cats Walkway and Sculpture Garden, which is a fun walkthrough for humans and canines. I can’t say enough about how fantastic this dog park is.
