So roomy and clean
Staybridge Suites Florence - Civic Center an IHG HotelI had never stayed at a Staybridge before, but I will definitely seek them out in the future, especially if they are dog friendly. The one I stayed in was cat friendly as well, as there was a woman with a cat checking in at the same time I was. I was only there for a night, but all of the staff were so thrilled to see my pup and super friendly. I loved my room as well. I knew it would have a kitchenette, but I wasn't expecting the full size appliances. And this might sound silly, but I liked that the TV swiveled so you could easily watch from the couch or the bed. The room was incredibly clean as well.
Amazing, Dog Friendly Boat Tour
Sarasota Boat ToursOur 4 hour boat tour with Captain Cory was the best part of our vacation! He is super personable and is quite knowledgeable about the area. I loved seeing all of the birds up close, and even though the water was a little chilly, he indulged us when we asked if we could hop out on a sand bar and look for shells. My dog joined us as well. I wasn't sure how he would be since it was his first boat ride (except for once riding on a ferry) but I think Captain Cory helped him relax and enjoy the ride as much as his humans did. The next time I am in the Sarasota area, I will definitely book another trip with Sarasota Boat Tours.
Hiking right outside your door
The RexI stayed at The Rex with my dog for a long weekend getaway from the city. There is a trailhead on the hotel property so you and your dog can take long hikes without even driving anywhere. There was a kitchenette in The Walnut room, where I stayed, so after a hike, it was nice to fix myself a snack and have a glass of wine by one of their fire pits. Also, when I arrived there was a goodie bag sitting in front of my room door with a toy and treats for my pup.
Festive, doggy friendly race
POSTPONED - Sandy Sprint Superhero 5K or 10K Run/Walk & Canine SprintI have been participating in the Sandy Sprint almost every year since 2010. I run or walk with my dog in memory of my mom, who passed away from Ovarian Cancer. It's super doggy friendly and festive, as they encourage people and pups to wear superhero garb.
