Great Dinner Spot with Tons of Charm
Hog's Breath InnMom and I decided to take my dog to dinner, and we really enjoyed it! The back patio is heated and was perfectly comfortable on a cool, May evening. The patio looks like the set of an old western, filled with Clint Eastwood memorabilia and rugged charm. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They have a separate doggy menu with goodies cooked especially for them-not seasoned heavily but still delicious. They even have dessert! My boy loved the hamburger and rice. We even had enough left over for his breakfast. We humans enjoyed our dinners just as much. The roasted beet salad was light and flavorful and the Castroville Artichoke Soup was savory and creamy. My only regret is that I ordered a cup instead of a bowl. Be advised, they do have a few rules-no dogs at/on the table or in your lap, no feeding them from your table/plate and they must be quiet and on a leash at all times. My little guy has a stroller, and he slept comfortably. If you’re looking to enjoy a marvelous meal with a bit of Carmel’s history, head on over.
Fabulous Breakfast Spot!!
From ScratchSome of the best breakfast I've ever had! And some of the nicest folks cooking/serving it. I went with the Veggie Florentine with Fried Cheesy Grits, and it was to die for! Everything was scrumptious-right down to the strawberry jam and bottomless, piping-hot coffee. My mom enjoyed the Breakfast Roll, and said the tomatillo and mole sauces on the top were divine. We were the only party eating outside, since we had my dog, Mert, with us, and they were only too happy to accommodate us! The head chef even came out to ask us how everything was, and couldn't be more friendly. This is our new must-go breakfast spot!
Dog-Friendly, even in the rain!
Carmel BistroCarmel Bistro Giovanni is a 5 out of 5 bones. Not only was the food a mixture of culinary delights, the service was exceptional. My mom and I stopped in to check it out, and we had our dog with us. It was slightly drizzly on the patio, but they didn’t hesitate to seat us outside and start the warming lamp for us. Everyone was so warm and friendly, and they didn’t seem bothered by the increasing sprinkles outside. The bread with the tomato/olive oil tapenade was piping hot and delicious. The “Misto Mare” my mom enjoyed was filled with prawns and the cream sauce rich and delicious. I had one of the specials (the name of which escapes me) but it was pan-seared bay scallops in a garlic olive oil sauce with roasted tomatoes. It was a simple dish but the flavors all complimented each other and really showcased how the scallops were cooked to perfection. And, the chocolate espresso mouse cake didn’t disappoint! If you’re in Carmel with your pup, make a stop into Carmel Bistro Giovanni-you’ll be delighted you did!
