On the Road to Improvement!

SureStay Hotel by Best Western Manning

Not much area for dogs to do their thing. However, there is a grassy area in front. First impression was "Oh no! They are closed!" They were under renovation on this visit and so the entire front of the building was covered in scaffolding, the lobby hardly noticeable. I pulled around the back and found another guest who directed me to the check-in desk. Kind of a tacky lobby with strong scent of jasmine, not my favourite. However, the staff are friendly and the rooms are updated and clean. As others have mentioned, the outside door is a little bit of a security concern but I had two big dogs with me so reasoned it wasn't a big deal. Breakfast was surprisingly nice with all the usual elements. I think they are on their way but right now, a sign at the front apologizing for the mess would be professional. There were also a few obvious oversights from the previous ownership in my room, e.g. peeling paint in the shower and a painted over deadbolt bracket on the door. All in all, though, not bad.

Improved

La Quinta by Wyndham Chambersburg

Last time I stayed here, it was clear that they were in need of renovations and updating and the tattered elements in the room that I used with my dogs. This time, the room was clean and updated but it was clear to me that they were minimally supplying all of the usual Items offered to guests in any room. For example, one bar of soap in a room for two people?! Very minimal supplies. Coffee provided in the room was yuck! Additionally, you can walk the dog in the neighborhood behind the motel but there’s really no place around the place itself for you to relieve your dog and give them some exercise. People with large— and younger dogs— need to know that! Breakfast was the usual waffles, pancakes, and minimal bread offerings with cereal and the basic juices. Not any worse than you would expect in any other hotel that provides breakfast these days.

Nice Staff: Quiet Location

Holiday Inn Express Greencastle an IHG Hotel

I enjoyed me stay here, despite the same old "pet room" routine with a faint urine smell covered by disinfectant. (Why with pet-friendly rooms, can't these hotels use vinyl flooring? It isn't bad to look at and much more practical for pet rooms!) The staff are friendly and helpful and the location, while it may not have a dedicated walking area does have options for walking the dog around the street and greenspaces surrounding the hotel (e.g. cornfield).

Still Going Downhill

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Orangeburg SC

Last time I stayed, the pet room I was assigned was the same one. A few things in that room were fixed since then (eg ripped curtains) but this hotel still seems tired and worn out. It doesn't have to be the Ritz but it also isn't the cheapest in the area either! Now, there are doors that don't close properly (at the "pet end") My own door took so long to close that if I were to walk away and let it close on its own, someone would surely be able to get in! Went to fill dog's water bottle in lobby bathroom...both taps out of order and disconnected. The staff are as pleasant as ever, the one good point, but I've stayed in a few from this chain and this is now by far the worst overall for maintenance!

Lovely Location!

City of Belleville's Dog Park East Zwicks Park

This is a great option for dogs, large and small , with two sections. There is a water supply, plus bags and plenty of garbage receptacles. There are lots of shade trees for summer months with a nice view of the marina and bay. Plenty of parking and located just before you go over the bridge into Prince Edward County. It is largely maintained by volunteers, however, so when it has been rainy, it tends to be excessively muddy in spots.

Great Value: Nice Staff

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Chambersburg PA

I've stayed here a few times now and it is comfortable for the dogs and me. The staff are also very helpful. However, this most recent stay left me a bit disappointed. The pet-friendly room we were assigned smelled like sweaty socks! There were stains on the carpet and tape over a rip in the curtain. The duvets on the made up beds already looked uninviting and lumpy (aka dog jumping). Not all pet owners are going to leave "evidence" behind and I feel with a pet fee involved, a hotel has some responsibility to keep rooms as clean as all the non pet rooms.. This room needed some upgrading. Perhaps a different flooring that is washable would be more appropriate and wouldn't hold an odour!
