Dusty- Australian Shepherd- 3 years old- 35 lbs

Our celebratory 21st anniversary road trip took a hit because of our experience here. First, the front desk did not have our dog registered. Once we were given a dog-friendly room, it was in the ‘old’ part of the property. We viewed the 1st floor room and it was seemingly clean but very sparse - like a poorly updated 1970s Motel 6. With 2 beds there was little room to place our luggage much less anything else. Had NO closet and a tiny, strangely designed bathroom area. Frankly, I didn’t feel real safe. My husband shook his head and decided to skip our GC hike the following day and drive the remaining 3+ hours home.

I loved this hotel. Wonderful location, nice pool, and rooms with very comfy bedding and wonderfully appointed bathroom. We were given a room on the first floor that was close to the exit and there were designated dog ‘relief’ areas with poop bags. As for being ‘dog FRIENDLY’, my husband was told pretty sternly that our dog had to be on a leash at all times (ok), could not be in the courtyard area (reasonable) and could NOT be left in the room alone for any length of time (I must have misunderstood when I booked). This meant we were forced to dine outside at one of the many dog-friendly restaurants in town for every meal in 100+ degree heat. I’ll know better next time.

Our second stay here. CLEAN rooms and common areas. Although, when I reserve a room with my dog, well in advance, I’d appreciate a room on the first floor, close to an exit. However, once outside there were several areas for ‘relief’ and my dog and I walked around the property each morning (as did other pet owners). There were no options for dining with her, so we left her in the room (which was allowed) and dined in the restaurant which was pricey and understaffed. However, the manager and our server were busting butt and should be commended. They were friendly and professional. Food was pretty good, too.

Our room was fabulous and the staff was amazing - so friendly and helpful. It was super easy (less than minute) to take the elevator down and right outside to do her business. Front desk had home baked cookies AND a jar of dog bone treats. The room had a large, new looking dog bed and there was no problem with her being left alone while we dined in one of delicious restaurants at the Inn for dinner. There were plenty of casual places in mountain village that had large and inviting outdoor dining areas where dogs are welcome. The gondola into town allowed dog and ran all day and most of the night. Could not have asked for more and we are coming back for ski season.
