Dog parks back home in Colorado are typically ground to dirt. This one is probably 2 acres in size, with a great, dense lawn of grass. My dog really enjoyed the grass and the long runs after the ball. The large dog side had slightly older trees that provide some shade, along with benches, including one under a tree. The small dog side has smaller trees and the benches are in the sun. But with Iowa's climate, give this place a few years and it will have it all, shade, sun, grass...
There are water fountains in both the large and small dog sides, and dog bag dispensers. Surprisingly, the large dog side was cleaner than the small dog side. I picked up 5 poop piles from the small side that weren't even my dog's. Since no one else was here, we went over to the big dog side and enjoyed the huge area to run around in.
Great park! We'll be back, for sure.

We were given the low-down by an employee of the Tamarack Brewery that any restaurant with outdoor seating on city streets could not have dogs, even in those patio areas. The Iron Horse owns its patio on its parking lot, so they CAN have seating outside with dogs. The food and beer were very good, and there was shade on the patio after 5pm on the 101-degree day we were there. It was still hot, but the concrete was cool for the pup, and the staff provided icewater in big dog bowls. We recommend this place!

Small tasting room with inside seating and roomy outdoor beer garden. Dogs welcome Inside and Outside! A nice, if small, selection of craft beer, as well as craft sodas. A food truck in the beer garden serves sandwiches, burgers, crepes, and salads. Check out the website for photos and more information. Very friendly staff! Had a very positive visit with our pup😊

We sat in the dog-friendly gravel beer garden, which had plenty of evening shade and several bowls of fresh, cool, water for the pup to choose from. Wait staff was very attentive even though we were outside. Pup got his own grilled chicken skewer, which he LOVED. We had the house salad and tonight's special, a chicken-basil pesto flatbread. Both were delicious! The beer garden has lots of vines and flowers, and some shady trees - just a very pleasant place to sit and unwind after a long day in the car. We'll be back tomorrow for another meal before we leave, definitely.
