We were unable to visit the dog park part of the park because it was too wet after thunderstorms the night before. But there were ample paved sidewalk paths around a pretty lake that let us and our pup stretch our legs before getting back in the car to continue on our trip. There were a lot of Canada Geese and regular geese, but our dog didn't try to chase them and the birds were not aggressive on their own. It was nice that the park was not far off of I 24 and there was a nice selection of coffee shops and other food stores.

The hotel has large grassy areas around it for quick pet relief and is only 5 to 8 minutes away from a large city park, Bob Noble Park, where you can have a nice leashed walk around a lake. The hotel was convenient to the interstate, but a little hard to find at night because the street it's on is not well marked and the front lots of that street had high, overgrown grass. That will probably be remedied in time when something is built there. We also liked that there was a lobby area away from the breakfast area where we could sit and eat with our dog.

We were traveling down I 65 South and looking for a place to eat with our dog. We took a chance on a detour to the Junction Restaurant in Flomaton and it was so worth it. Our burgers were delicious and the people were so friendly! The patio seating was great - it was large, had a covered roof with ceiling fans, was fenced in and had lots of picnic tables to choose from. If you're traveling in that area, you should really stop in!

Bark Minette was great to visit in the early morning for a quick romp before we got on the road, but with no shade, I don't think you could visit in the afternoon during the summer or early fall. Really like the 2 large, separate areas for big and small dogs, but we were the only ones using the park during out visit.

Dogs are allowed on the covered porch, which worked great because a squall rolled up while we were there. Food was great and the views of the Dog River and Mobile Bay are beautiful.
