When we arrived, no one was in reception. There was a couple waiting but they had not seen the sign to call. Once someone arrived they did not call the second receptionist so we had a longer wait. The room was boiling but it was not possible to prop the door open.We were given a very pleasant room at the top of the stairs although we had requested a quiet area. Staff were very pleasant, but the place lacks a "soul," it is a very bland. The chef definitely needs more practice; the food was rough around the edges, more show than accomplished.

From the really welcome reception, through helpful pool-side, and knowledgeable restaurant, all of the staff were on top form. Comfortable room and public areas, and a good location to walk into the town centre.

Simply put, they only advertise that they are dog friendly as they think they have to for business. Also, they say that they have parking, but when we arrived we were told that their parking is on the street in front of the hotel. When we arrived they were not happy to see our dog and immediately gave us a list of restrictions and instructions on what we could not do.

One of the owners was not happy about our dog in the public space this morning, and then we were verbally attacked by one of the the owners this morning when our dog reacted to someone coming in, who said that he did not want dogs in his establishment but he had no choice. His reaction, from a very large young man, left us shaking because of the venom we encountered.

There are no facilities for poo bags, the nearest bin is at the other end of the village. Dogs are only tolerated in the garden on sufference. When we checked out, there was not even a "thank you" or "goodbye." On the plus side, the service in the restaurant was good, and the food delicious.

A really friendly hotel where the front of house staff were welcoming and patient. There was a bowl of water and doggie treats in the room upon arrival. The downside - we had a small problem in the room, and housekeeping insisted on our dog being in the bathroom whilst they were there; as he was not allowed near the pool or in the breakfast room, he had to spend time by himself in the room.
