However, we have stayed at hotels every night for more than 3 months, exceeding 15,000 miles on the odometer for this trip. Check-in was smooth. The property, in the dark, looked good. Room seemed fine at first blush. Neighboring guest voices floated through our room until almost midnight. I understand Spanish, and learned more than I cared to about their lives. The dogs barked with every crash and bang from all neighboring rooms.
Vinyl floor was dirty. I know this because the dogs splashed water on it while drinking, and I wiped it up with a clean paper towel. The dead beetle inside the door was crispy, hollow, and hard. Pic attached. Heating was difficult to start. The remote worked well, but we didn't know there was one until the unit panel didn't work, and we had to ask.
The TV guide indicated fewer channels than existed, so we didn't get to watch the bowl game played by Miami and Old Miss. So we gave up on that and used our HDMI cable to connect with our laptop to watch Netflix. Connectivity was so bad we gave up on that, too. The front desk claimed internet was usually pretty good here unless it was raining, which it was.
Backing in to the parking space to unload meant walking through muddy garden beds. I walked the dogs around 10pm, and came back to the room with shoes soaked from stepping through the parking lot and sidewalk puddles. Storm water and roof gutter water doesn't flow away from walkways. I'm grateful temps weren't below freezing which could have turned those puddles to ice.

And check-in went smoothly. Then, the heating unit didn't function properly: either full on hot or off. The front desk person came down to help, said the same thing happened with a previous guest, unplugged the machine, re-set it, and it was fine. At 11pm, I went to walk the dogs and couldn't get out of the room. My sister had a Leatherman and was able to force the deadbolt because the door was loose in its casing. Then she did get it open, we saw that the door itself had two, 2 foot long splits on its edge as if someone else had kicked the door in.
When we told the front desk clerk in the morning (had to speak to her through a glass service window because the lobby was locked), she didn't bat an eye or say a word. No breakfast or coffee. Back by the beautiful creek is a big pile of trash and logs with old telephones and other hotel junk. Not nearly worth the $130 (including two dogs @ $25 each) we paid.

Best hotel beds ever! Nice, quiet room. Our room's heating wasn't working well and the front desk sent a maintenance person to fix it within minutes. Parking great. Pet area great. Good coffee!

We appreciate authenticity. We expect the expected: good beds, hot water, cleanliness, quiet nights, and good service. We received all of those, plus freshly laundered throws to cover our beds for dog comfort, a lovely, grassy pet area with bags and waste receptacles, a very fun Route 66 room in excellent condition, and great front desk service. The room was spacious and cozy. The bagged breakfast seemed meager at first, yet was thoughtfully composed and of wonderful and high quality products which we really enjoyed. Congratulations to the second generation owner who has maintained a family legacy and provided excellent accommodations in a world of cookie cutter accommodations.

Lovely room, terrific front desk staff. Everyone loved our dogs and greeted them as if they were family. Great room assignment near the north exit, making walking "the kids" super convenient.
Small improvements? 1. While breakfast staff was terrific, food quality was...less than fleet average.
2. The overwheming floral/disinfectant smell in the lobby was beyond unpleasant. I acknowledge somewhat of a sensitivity to chemicals and artificial fragrance.
Would ABSOLUTELY stay here again.

Our room is ample and well appointed, and so nice that we extended and took a rest day just for us. The staff is professional, kind, and personal. They listened to and fully answered any questions we asked. Fantastic pool and hot tub facilities, and the laundry is convenient and reasonably-priced. Breakfasts are hot and plentiful, and the coffee is steaming hot, always filled, and delicious. The dogs (and we) were very happy here. Well done, BWH in Coos Bay... well done!!

Checked in with a reservation, got keys to a dirty room. Reassigned to a clean one. 7pm, our door opened. Another guest had been assigned our room. Our keys stopped working and had to be replaced, twice more. 8pm turned on heat which repeatedly cycled to a/c within 20 minutes. 10pm, reported this pattern to the front desk. No maintenance on duty to repair. I set my alarm periodically through the night to reset the unit.
Our friends were assigned a nearby room. Their keys didn't work. Replacement keys got them into their room to find it had luggage and the personal effects of another guest. They were reassigned to another floor. In working with 4 front desk staff, one blamed housekeeping, one blamed the computer system which had gone down the day before, one blamed a same-day inspection, and the last blamed everything on the incompetence of all previous front desk staff.
I've spent my career in the hospitality field. By the time we checked out I was stunned by the unprofessional and defensive staff who prioritized finger-pointing rather over understanding and correcting their guests' consequential issues. The dogs didn't seem to mind any of this, and had a pleasant stay. So far, I have been unable to find a remedy.

Unusual and unexplained property layout, had we two old ladies hauling luggage up stairs. That plus non-working internet made settling in an almost two hour process. Beds were delicious and difficult to leave, room was cute, and breakfast was charming and thoughtfully designed.

Property is shabby with patched repairs, noisy, and in an undesirable area. Cute little balcony could not be enjoyed because of traffic (many contractor trucks, loud engines, and a garbage truck). Room was clean, and beds comfortable. Hot water was plentiful. I would have happily paid $75 for a room like this, not $130.
