Not what I asked for

When I made the reservation online, I asked for a handicapped room, downstairs non-smoking with a king bed. My husband rides a mobility scooter. The room assigned to us was semi-handicapped we were told. There wasn't a way to get the scooter in the room because of the railing in front of the room. When I brought that to the attention of the owner she said "I should have been specific to what we needed so I got what I asked for."

I asked to change rooms and she said "no that was the room the online company assigned to us." I then asked if she had a shower chair because the room had a tub shower combo, again she said no. "You should have been more specific when booking online. If you wanted these things you should have called us and we would have gladly accommodated you." I then said so you do have a handicapped room? She said they only have 1 room and had been booked out for an extended stay. My husband said if they wouldn't let us change rooms, we would just have to make do.

The tub he could barely get into and without a chair he almost fell, so he wasn't able to shower at all. When we got back from my granddaughters graduation, we prepared for bed. We took our shoes off and found the floor to be gritty with sand or some other matter. So we cleaned our feet with the only two washcloths they gave us. Since they didn't provide any complimentary shampoo or body wash a person would normally find we cleaned as best we could with the soap and only 2 hand towels and used the 2 sub-standard bath towels. The floor was filthy and there were 2 insects dying on the bathroom floor.

We were preparing to leave and still had a few things to gather up. At 10 o'clock there was a tapping at the door we weren't sure what it was at first then again. When my husband was walking to the door it was opened by the male owner with a key. Luckily we had the security latch on that door otherwise he could have barged in on us in whatever state we were in. He didn't apologize for entering like he did. The only thing he said was "You checking out? You checking out?" My husband told him we still had an hour to go, he said nothing, my husband closed the door.

We got our things together and I went to checkout. As I told the lady about the filthy floor in our room and the 2 dying insects. She came unglued and raised her voice toward me "We have no roaches here, you see how clean we keep the place? If you had a problem with what you found you should have said something and we would have let you changed rooms." She told me they clean rooms everyday and I DID NOT find filth on the floor. I asked for the receipt for the room and a form she had me sign at check-in. She told me the form was for their information only. I politely told her if they have anything with my signature on it I have a right to have it. Needless to say, we will not be staying at a place where we feel we are not welcome.
