Met expectations

Fredericton Inn

Our one night stay was comfortable and met our expectations. The room had an exterior access door so we could choose to come and go through the hotel building or direct to the parking lot. Only issue we had was at check-in; some other guests kept interrupting the staff member assisting us, so she wasn't able to give me as much of an overview as I would have liked (e.g. forgot to mention that first access of the room had to be from within the building; the exterior door has an extra latch for security).

As Expected

Comfort Inn Fredericton

Pretty basic hotel, which was all we needed for our quick 1-night stop. Hotel room was clean, check-in and check-out were easy and quick. Staff seemed friendly. (Unrelated to the hotel -- note that no restaurants in Fredericton who are open for breakfast can accommodate dogs, even if they have an outdoor patio. So you may want to take advantage of the Comfort Inn's breakfast, or pick up something to go and enjoy it in the nearby Odell Park).

Decent

Charlottetown Inn & Conference Centre

The room was a good size and pretty clean, but the hotel is clearly a bit short-staffed amidst the pandemic. The staff were all very friendly and professional, but the hallways always had half-finished cleaning jobs on the go which would have been a challenge if our dog had wanted to get into other rooms' garbage or leftover food service. The building we stayed in (across the street from reception) only had one small elevator, which wasn't an issue for us on this trip with our young dog, but would have been if we still had our old pair of senior dogs or had other mobility needs. The elevator was in very high demand during peak times. There were also parts of the building that had a bit of a musty smell, possibly because of the hot, rainy weather? Overall, nothing special, but it is affordable and is in a decent location, a short walk from the waterfront, tourist attractions and bars/restaurants.

Very comfortable stay

Hôtel Universel in Rivière-Du-Loup

The double queen room was a great size for our group of 3 humans plus 1 medium dog, with a good corner space for the dog crate. Although the hotel seemed busy, covid protocols were in place and seemed to be followed by staff and guests. Overall the service was good and our stay was comfortable. We had no complaints, but the service also wasn't exceptional enough for a 5 star rating; other dog-friendly hotels have left a note, treat, extra towel, etc. and gave more clear directions upon arrival about where our dog was and wasn't allowed in the building and on its grounds.

Affordable

Days Inn by Wyndham Riviere-Du-Loup

It's difficult to judge the hotel's regular operation based on our stay since we stayed there during the covid-19 pandemic, but I can say that the staff were all very responsible, polite and welcoming. The room was a bit crowded; it was small for a room with two double/queen beds, wardrobe, chair and table (no mini-fridge). Add people and two 50lb dogs and it felt like a tight squeeze. Still, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was well-maintained, and everything was very clean. The green space is between the road and parking lot, but is a decent size for your dog to sniff around and do their business. This hotel may not be the height of luxury, but it gets the job done. We had a comfortable stay in a clean room with good service. Will likely stop there again when we only need 1 bed and space for the dogs.
