Really great, but has its con
Oakdale Dog ParkI never minded driving out from modesto to this park. Despite its lack of shade, I love the green grass and so does Jax. It has seperate water fountains for small and large dogs on each side. The downside is that it can have a lot of mosquitoes at certain times of the year and sometimes can have mud puddles on the edges of the dog park (which my dog started to search for and roll in every time we visit).

It's pretty average.
Elk Park / Modesto Dog ParkWhen I first went half the dog park was straight up sand and blistered my dog's paws in the summer, but they changed it to woodchips some time later. The larger dog side has half wood chips and half shaded area which isnt too bad. There were incidents where people came with illmannered dogs and at one point someone left the doors open. But overall, it is a good place to take your dog to stretch their legs. The only thing I dont like is that there is a shared water fountain at the entrance, personally I prefer one on each side.
