Nice Option And Nice People

Nealon Dog Park

Went here today. Just a baseball field. But, fenced in and super soft grass. I love playing in the grass!

There were lots of dogs to play with. Too many for me. I was the new kid and everyone wanted to say hi. A bit overwhelming. Also, because I’m 125# I think some of them were a bit intimidated even though I’m a big sissy girl. Still, ran around and played and had fun. The other dogs’ people were super friendly and welcoming. I’ll go back.

Lots of trails

Waterdog Lake & Open Space

I really had a good time here.

We entered from the top off Hallmark Road. There is water there and even a bowl for me. We did a CCW loop around most of the park. When we got to the bottom, about half way, there is a porta-potty and water fountain, no bowl, at the entrance in the court. Then we finished by climbing out of that valley and went by the lake and up the gravel road.

The lake wasn’t clear, it was a little green, but it’s a lake, not a pool. I don’t like water so I don’t care, but some of my friends like to swim, they would get in.

We walked almost 6 miles! Most of it was on smaller trails, some pretty steep and uneven, some flat and soft. We saw 3 old cars, they were cool.

We went on Thursday and only got passed by 2 bikes but saw 3 others. Dad says it’s a popular bike riding place on weekends.

Overall, I gotta give it 4 bones because the trails are quite extensive but not very well marked. The signs are there but many are faded and hard to read. Take a picture of the trail map at the start, that’s what Dad did. Have fun!

And if you’re lucky, your people will take you to Water Dog Tavern afterwards. They had outdoor seating, dog friendly, water bowls, and good food. I met a flat coat and a golden retriever!

My Favorite

Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve

Trash Cans have been added ✅

Yeah, thank you MROSD, you guys rock! This place is great. Lots of trails, of varying length, mostly shady, and an off leash area in the middle. The off leash is surrounded by an old paved road. But, inside the road are trees and trails. When I walk it, I am only on the road long enough to cross it and then to walk out the top of the off leash area.

I think this place is awesome because it actually takes effort to get to the off leash, so people can’t just drive up and dump their dog inside the fence. This keeps it a bit quieter.

A couple things to be aware of (1) the off leash area is not “fenced in”, only a split rail fence, so if your dog is a runner be cautious (2) POISON OAK and lots of it.
