Great Stop!

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Omaha West an IHG Hotel

I’ve always been a fan of Holiday Inn’s, their service is always great and the rooms are always clean (and they have THE BEST pillows). This was my first time staying with a dog, and my experience was still really great! The only reason for the 4 bones instead of 5 is that it is a bit pricey compared to other dog-friendly hotels (plus the $50 pet-fee). My fiancé and I decided to splurge after having stayed in a not so nice (but cheap) hotel on the last drive through Omaha. It’s also near a lot of fast food places which is always nice to not have to drive much further after having driven all day. If you have the room in your budget to splurge I’d say it’s definitely worth the piece of mind that you’re in a well taken care of hotel and the delicious breakfast!

Seemed Nice

Albert Lea Community Dog Park at Brookside Park

Road trip from Minneapolis to Denver and this was our first stop of the day. It was a little further from I-35 than I would’ve liked but doable. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great the day we stopped and the wind was really bad at the park, so we only stayed for about 15min. It was a good sized park with plenty of room for running. The parking lot was a little confusing but that could’ve been from the snow and slush covering the lines. I’d probably stop here again.

Close To I-80

Waggin' Tails Bark Park

Road trip from Denver to Minneapolis and this was our first stop (roughly 4hrs from Denver). It is somewhat tucked away, but with my GPS I didn’t have much trouble finding it (I used Google Maps). The size was really nice! We’re used to a very small park at our apartment complex and so the mass amount of space for my pup to run was great! We stayed for about an hour and met locals as well as others traveling for the holidays. Next time I stop I’ll probably bring my lunch to the park as it has benches and tables. Overall it’s a really great stop right after or before I-76 (which is pretty barren for good stops IMO).

Close To I-80

Hanscom Dog Park

Road trip from Denver to Minneapolis and this park was not only close to I-80 but also the hotel I stayed at in Omaha. It was a decent sized park, but it is on a hillside which I found a little annoying. The bottom of the park was mostly flight for easier running but also pretty muddy, so be sure to bring paper towels, dog wipes, or a towel!! There were also a lot of toys just throughout the park which was nice that I didn’t have to get any of mine super muddy.

Great Stop!

Roper East Dog Run

Road trip from Denver to Minneapolis and back over Thanksgiving. So we stopped at a couple dog parks along the way. This one might’ve been my favorite of them all! It was a little further off of I-80 than I would’ve liked but still worth it. It’s a huge park and our boxer mix was running circles before we even got the tennis ball out. A few locals were there while we were and they were all very nice. I also really loved that it had a paved walking path around the park for the hoomans. Overall I’d stop here again the next time we’re driving by!

Good

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Omaha West

As most La Quinta's this one was pretty outdated, which really isn't a huge deal to me, but the room didn't seem fully cleaned to me. Not sure if it literally wasn't clean or if it was just so old that it could be made to look any cleaner? I arrived after the sun had set and was a little sketched out by the location initially. After seeing it in day light the next day I wasn't as creeped out, but it was an interesting location. My pup didn't seem to hate the place (it was her first time in a hotel), she barked at every noise which made for a 'ruff' night, but she tends to be protective of me in new and unfamiliar places. They did provide dog poop bags out in the grass which I thought was really helpful. Overall it was a fine stay and the bed was comfortable, but I think this location is in desperate need of some renovations.
