Quaint, clean, dog friendly

Sea Dell Motel - Marathon

Wow, what can I say? This motel was great. Is it the Hilton, no of course not. It is an older motel on the US 1 in Marathon. If I would have to guess built in the 1970's. Room was clean, had great AC, clean sheets, plenty of towels, plenty of hot water, and pressure. There are two dog friendly rooms available. We were in room 20 which is not the typical dog room there, but they said to stay in that one anyway. The day staff that we interacted with were very friendly. Pool was clean and heated. Lot's of restaurants within walking distance if you are too tired to drive. Did I mention they do not charge extra per dog per night? We paid $169.00 a night during our Feb 10th through 13th stay. Very affordable. If you are looking for a concierge, pay for parking, day spa, this is not your spot! If you are looking for a clean, affordable, dog friendly spot, then here is your winner. Sombrero Beach which is dog friendly and touted as the the most beautiful beach in the Keys is a short maybe 1 and 1/2 away. And a Publix is right before that turn to the beach, what more could you ask for!

Great food, service, location. Dogs welcome.

Sunset Grille & Raw Bar

Wow! Couldn't have asked for better location. The food was really good. I had the lobster tacos with coconut rice and black beans. Hubz had yellow fin sandwich blackened with coleslaw. We shared an order of conch fritters. Ordered the dogs a medium rare hamburger, large sized burger they loved it. Drinks were a bit spendy $16.33 for 3 12 ounce draft corona and $22.32 for 3 bahama mamas. We were there for lunch, no happy hour at that time. We sat by the water under an umbrella. Dogs had plenty of shade. Didn't go in the pool but it looked very nice. Dogs are welcome on the outside eating area which is very large.

Very small, relaxing

Key West Dog Beach

We were there in a Tuesday there was one other person with two dogs. Do not expect a large beach like Sombrero Beach in Marathon. This is very very small, !it's like an alley with sand and the ocean at the end. Louie's Backyard is on one side and some type of condo in the other. Okay for 30 minutes to an hour, but don't plan a day of it.

Yummy late lunch

The Stuffed Pig

As always, when I see negative reviews, I say we'll see. Is this a four star restaurant with expensive platters and an Oceanside view to die for? No. Was the food good? Yes. I had the turkey club , huge with French fries. The hubs had the pulled pork, also good. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch a you can choose either. Huge menu. We were full and did not order dessert. The seater and the waitress were courteous and friendly. The seater brought us extra water for he dogs and millions dog biscuits. They do not eat grain so they were not interested, but a nice gesture. We are outside under the Tiki hut, unsure if they have indoor dining? An amusing sight is the iguanas, one was hanging out in the roof another in a tree. The dogs were treated kindly, we had a good meal, servers friendly. Casual atmoshere, relaxing.

Great beach

Sombrero Beach

What a great beach. Not sure who commented full of rocks and seawood, not true! The beach was dog friendly easy to swim for dogs and people. Yes there was some seaweed and some rocks on either side of the beach making a cove. Off the beach there are multiple pavilions, nice walking path. Several showers for humans and dogs. Two indoor bathrooms which have handicap access. Plenty of free off street parking. By the by the same is white. Fun day!
