The previous reviews are correct; no trash cans and no shuttle service for dogs. However if you go early and/or off season, you can bypass the visitor center and park at the train station in Harpers Ferry. There is an additional parking lot but it is a good walk into town. Once in town there are many historic places to visit and places to walk around town. Also several restaurants with outdoor seating

Stopped in for some craft beers and lunch. It was a cold snowy day and we didn’t want to eat outside so we left our dogs in the car. Just for the heck of it, upon entering I asked if I could bring my dogs in. I was happy to hear them say yes. Not only were my dogs able to stay warm in the brewery, but we were able to enjoy delicious beer and lunch!

Other reviews made me visit this park but it was truly better than expected. My GPS needs to RUN and although the large dog area would have sufficed, to find the large off leash area past the memorial garden was a godsend. This area has lots of water, trees and shrubs to explore and a nice level path for the humans. Be aware that this area is not fenced but if your dog listens well you won’t have a problem
