Deceiving (but in the best way)…
Knickerbocker TavernNever been to Altoona before so after driving around to get a feel for the town, we went looking for a dog friendly place to get a light bite and a beer. Bringfido brought us to the Knickerbocker Tavern and what a great find! From the outside it looked like so many other corner neighborhood bars. Couldn’t see how they were pet friendly but they had 5 bones on Bringfido so, with me waiting outside with dogs, my wife went in to see what was up. She came out and said we could walk the dogs through the bar/restaurant to get to the inner courtyard. The inner courtyard is a beautiful space with lots of blooming flowers and tables that aren’t crammed next to each other. Everyone was super friendly and the food was great (we had the hot spinach and artichoke dip share plate). The dogs chilled pretty quick because on the nice, relaxing space. We’ll definitely stop here again! Nice job Knickerbocker’s!
Don't Waste Your Money!
Pedalin' Pig BBQFrom a dog-friendly perspective it was ok although no one offered to bring our dogs any water. From a food perspective it was TERRIBLE! The pulled pork was dry and tasteless. No sauce selection was offered. The hush puppies were burnt. No beer or wine list was offered or available. We were seated on the screen porch, which was fine, but the windowsill right next to our table was black with dirt and the table was sticky. A real waste of $60. We had been here years ago and were really looking forward to returning. Never again.
