Dog was unimpressed

Dog Park at Washington Park

Very small park made up of mostly cement and small areas of artificial turf. The man-made water feature is very small. Good for dogs who are content socializing, but bad for dogs who want space to run and chase one another. We are accustomed to spending at least an hour at a very large rural dog park, so it came as no surprise when our dog asked to leave after 15 minutes.

Scenery And Scents

Swallow Falls State Park

October 8, 2020
Our dog loved exploring the trails while humans enjoyed the beautiful fall scenery. After a bit of hiking, our dog enjoyed a dip in the cold water.

Good Place To Run

McHenry Community Park

Although our pup didn’t have any playmates, she had a blast running up and down the stretch of fenced-in land, chasing sticks and balls.

Fantastic Views And Brews

Mountain State Brewing Company

A relaxed atmosphere for dogs to take in all the scents and humans to drink delicious brews. The spacious patio overlooks fields with beautiful mountains in the distance. Our server was fantastic and our dog appreciated her own bone-shaped water bowl.

Fantastic Space

Scout Dog Park at Pierce Park

There is a ton of space for dogs to run and play. Depending on the time of the day, there may be plenty of companions or quiet alone time. The small dog area is for those under 25 pounds. The large dog area is unique in that there is a large open grassy area PLUS a lower shaded wooded area. There are lots of shaded benches and picnic tables for the two-legged chaperones.

Fantastic Dog Beach

Kruse Park Dog Beach

The boardwalk is closed, but individuals may still access the beach by hiking down the dunes (a quick walk). This was an excellent beach

Interesting Sights And Sounds

Grand Haven Waterfront Trail

There are plenty of things for a curious dog to check out along the boardwalk. A handful of thoughtful shops put out water bowls for dogs. As you get closer to the lighthouse, pups can enjoy a good sniff while they get splashed by the waves.

Fantastic Home Base For Pup And Humans

Cozy Apt. near Downtown

All three of us enjoyed the comfortable accommodations provided by Wesley — what an incredible value. The apartment has everything we could need and is perfectly positioned to be within walking distance of a small park, downtown Grand Haven and the boardwalk. Our pup enjoyed sniffing around the cute neighborhood as well. Well-maintained Ferrysburg dog park is only a six minute drive for days when we wanted to deplete a little extra energy. We recommend this home for anyone looking to explore Grand Haven with their pup.

Well-maintained and spacious

Dog Park at Coast Guard Park

Fantastic area for our dog to run and play with plenty of shade in a line of dugout-like structures. A drinking fountain provides plenty of water for all involved. The park was not busy on a Monday afternoon, but our dog did find a very good playmate.
