Dog Park
Creekwood Park Dog SpotThis dog park has two large separate dog play areas one for big and one for small. The mud here is really bad after it rains even a few days after. Not a lot of places to sit if it’s a crowded weekend. I have found this dog park in particular to be one of the worst in the area due to owners. Most of the time there’s very aggressive dogs and dog fights that happen here and due to the mud people tend to bring their big dogs into the small dog areas and lot of people don’t clean up after their dogs. This is the closest dog park near me and I go out of my way to avoid it and drive to another. The paved walking trial is a nice option if the dog play area isn’t looking ideal but keep in mind there’s not any trash areas after you start on the trial for a few miles to throw trash away including dog waste bags which is not ideal when you are picking up poop. Also people tend to let their dogs off leash to play in the water outside the fenced in dog areas which I personally don’t mind but some of them have no recall and will come up to your dogs who are leashed which might be a problem if u have dogs that are not dog friendly. The dog park is located behind the kids playground area.

Great place to hike and camp
Monte Sano State ParkLots of nice hiking trials to spend the day on and beautiful views. You do have to pay a admission fee to get in so keep that in mind. We love hiking here and they also have some bike trails. The hiking trials are dog friendly and are great for easy family hikes to hard ones.

A favorite dog park in Huntsville
Downtown Dog SpotThis has to be my favorite dog park so far that I have visited in the Huntsville area. People who come to this park are generally friendly and obey the rules which is why it’s one of my favorite as I have had to leave other dog parks in the area due to very aggressive dogs. So as far as the park itself the small dog area is OK and the large dog area is huge there’s water bowls and running water in the dog areas. The park has plastic pools for the dogs to play in on hot days. The park is right next to a train tract and it can be VERY loud when the train comes by. There’s also homeless that will sit under the bypass inside the large dog park (iv had them walk in and out and leave both gates open which thankfully I was able to close them before any dogs ran out while I was sitting in the small area watching). There’s also a skate park right across from the dog park and the parking on the weekends can be tight.Overall it’s a decent park mainly because of the regulars who come here who follow the rules and have very socialized friendly dogs and the mud here isn’t as bad as some of the local parks after a rain.
