Hi, my husband and I adopted our Border Collie, Odin, in November of 2017 and have used your site to find dog friendly places to explore. We love hiking, eating, and having Odin with us wherever we go.

Excellent way to spend your day!

Lake Del Valle State Recreation Area

Del Valle offers a lot of fun activities for the whole family (including your pup). We live close by and have an Easy Bay Regional Parks Pass. The boats available for rent are dog friendly however I would recommend bringing dog shoes/booties as the boat ramps and the boats get pretty hot in the sun as they are metal. In addition, the campsites are dog friendly and there is plenty of space between sites. There are lots of trails to hike and dogs are allowed to swim on any beaches past the off leash dog area. This allows you to have an area all to yourself.

Excellent Park!

Sycamore Grove Regional Park

My dog and I frequent Sycamore Grove as we live about 20 minutes from the park. There are multiple trails and lots of wildlife (beware there are tons of squirrels so expect extra excitement). We have also seen foxes and bobcats in addition to the millions of squirrels that make their home in the park. We generally take the Sycamore Trail/Creek Trail as it is less crowded than the Arroyo Del Valle Regional Trail. We have been able to hike every trail in the park and continue to come back to enjoy the park.
