Anyone who doesn't consider a dog as part of a family and with equal rights is totally crazy (or maybe its just that my wife and I are crazy about our dog?!)

Great spot

Robbie's of Islamorada

We went here for a lunch and thought it was great/cool. Its right on the water, and the food was great. It was also real dog friendly (our waitress brought our pup his own water bowl, and the staff all was real nice, petted him, etc).

We highly recommend

Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina

My wife and I stayed here for Labor Day weekend, and really enjoyed it. The amenities are great there -- totally awesome beach (with plenty of chairs and great set up); real cool restaurant/bars on grounds (with outdoor seating); they have fun "games" everywhere good for adults or kids (giant chess, giant connect 4, water trampoline, etc); and it I thought it was certainly relatively real affordable. But what we liked best was everyone there was so incredibly nice, and it was SUPER dog friendly**. They give you a special made doggy bowl (with hotel name on it) for your dog, plus a treat, when you check in. And you can bring your dogs everywhere there -- which is particularly nice, given the resort outside area is so big, making it even more dog friendly (including the beach area). They ask you keep your dog on a leash there; but as long as your dog is behaving and not bothering anyone they aren't strict/jerks or anything about it. I'll also note -- for those who have never been to Islamorada -- we found the town to be surprisingly dog friendly too, and pretty much every restaurant was super dog friendly.
