Great place
The Docksider RestaurantI can see why everyone has given it 5 stars. We went on a weekend in summer, and it was busy, but we didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes or so. We sat at the end of the covered seating, so there was shade, but fewer tables nearby for the dog to wander near. The food was excellent, friendly staff, and the lake views gorgeous. Would definitely go there again. They provided a dog water bowl on request. Also it is a curvy little road to get there, but only a few miles from interstate.
New. Name
Greens and GrainsNow Greens & Grains, this has salads and sandwiches put together fresh in front if you. There are 2 covered tables outside. There is no table side service, so you’ll need to leave the dog outside to go in and order. Close to James Madison University, so I suspect it might be more packed with undergrads during the school year. It was summer when we stopped by.
Good food
Olde Town Hall Restaurant & PubNot far off the highway in a pretty small town with old brick buildings. There was a covered 2 person bar top table perfect for an overcast day. There was also a larger outdoor seating area that was uncovered. The food and the service were great.
Food decent but some Problems
Woodstock Garden CafeThe food was definitely better than other things available near interstate. However, there were a few problems.
1) We called to check could eat outside with dog & they gave us incorrect directions. Good thing we used the GPS.
2) We could not bring the dog inside and you are supposed to order at inside counter. Tried to order by phone but had problems. They will bring the food out to you once you have ordered.
3) They rang up the bill incorrectly.
Pros
Eating in the nursery is nice. It’s covered in a way that still lets some light in & there were heaters. Also the food was a bit spicy, but good. More than one vegetarian option.
