Really Dog Friendly
Russian River PubSounds like they changed their dog game. Our intent was to leave the pups in the car and eat inside. They had non seasoned beef or chicken on the menu for the dogs. When we order a chicken for the pups they said we could bring them inside. We chose not to, they can be loud. But there was a beautiful Great Pyrenees at the table next to us. We did take the girls outside after and took advantage of their closed in outdoor area that allowed the dogs to be off leash. If the weather was nicer we would have eaten out there. Food wA pretty good, pub food, excellent pet friendly place.
Good coffee and sweets
The Birds CafeWe stopped here for coffee and treats on a whim. We were invited to bring the dogs in and even could bring them inside the coffee shop not just outside on the deck. Big spacious deck areas. Nice coffee and cookies area good treats. Gave the girls pup cups. Highly recommend.
Yummy food, cute restaurant
Howard Station Cafewe camped near Occidental and had breakfast at Howard’s. We had the egg sandwich with garlic aioli. Who knew how good garlic was on a breakfast sandwich? it is delicious! they have a nice wrap around deck that the dogs can share with you.
A hike and history
The Petrified Forestokay so not much of a hike but a nice walk, and for one dog being handicapped it was great. We loved the history and geology as humans and the dogs loved the shaded paths and smells. they offer water bowls for the pups.
Nice and clean
Best Western Hi-Desert InnThis motel was nicely updated and comfortable rooms really comfortable bed. It was pretty quiet and soundproof. I reduced it from 5 bones because of the cost, $180 with dog fees for Tonapah Nevada, that is an expensive stop on the way to Vegas. Also the pet relief area was across the parking lot and felt a bit like a homeless area, dumped bags of clothes etc. and a couple of transient people that were all very nice. It was also far from our room and we have a handicapped pup so we had to drive her there. If passing through, I would try to find something cheaper, if staying for a few days, I would stay here.
Very Dog Friendly
Skunk TrainWe thought this would be fun with the dogs. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating of the dogs and asked if we needed help in and out. I enjoyed the views and the commentary which was very educational. all and all a genre at trip. the cost is a bit high, but it an unusual experience you get to do with your dog. so, that being said, the dogs didn’t find it as fun as we did. the train is loud and vibrates (surprise surprise) so the pups were not that comfortable on the train. they pretty much wanted to leave a few minutes in, but they can’t. they did settle in and accept the trip, but I can’t say they enjoyed it. we had planned to stay and hike around Glen Junction but it rained and we didn’t want to be stuck for 2 hours on the rain waiting for the next train. I do recommend it, but also say that your pups may not find it as nice as you.
Best fries Ever!!
Silver's at the WharfI am not much into seafood so we tried other places first. however, most were closed because it was mid week, off-season, and COVID. We gave this a try. I had a chicken wrap that was pretty good, but the fries...they were fantastic. I really think these were some of the best fries I have ever had. Only the outside was open, that was okay because we had the dogs. we only allowed one to eat with us because the other was being loud and rude and had to wait in the car but, back to the fries. There was plenty to share with the pup (my pup who can’t catch anything and doesn’t really try, why should she when she can let it hit her in the face then eat it easily from the floor) caught every single fry I threw at her. so, Leeloo gives it 5 bones and 5 fries for AWESOME!
Clean And Inexpensive
Motel 6 Williams CAWe stopped here half way to the Coast from Reno. it was clean, a bit dated but that was okay. we were upstairs in the corner and one dog barked at every noise. we had to turn the fan on the heater to constant to cover up outside noises. it wasn’t that noisy, she was just that sensitive. no carpeting on floor, bed was comfy enough. micro and fridge in the room. no in room coffee but a McDonald’s next door. good for an overnight.
