Beautiful place

Kimpton Brice Hotel an IHG Hotel

Right in the heart of old Savannah, this property features a gorgeous square for pet-walking a short block away, although we never found the on-site pet area mentioned in the description. Pet treats and bags are readily available near the front entrance and there’s a special pet seating area in the restaurant. The restaurant staff even made sure our little diva had a water dish while we dined. The restaurant did seem a bit short-staffed with a single person handling service; I hope this improves because the servers we had for both dinner and breakfast were good, but not able to be as attentive as I’m sure they’d like.

We received a text from the front desk offering services, but when I texted a request and also reiterated a request made a check-in, there was no follow up. This could be due to new staff (she seemed young), so there’s some room for training and growth. The pool looked inviting though we didn’t partake, and we loved the secret garden space for a quiet spot to sit. We will be back to give it another try to see if the experience is even better with a bit of time.

Beautiful hidden gem!

The Blennerhassett Hotel

The Blennerhassett is a gorgeous grand dame on the Ohio River that shows her 134 years of age, but it still lovely despite a few worn areas. We had hoped to time our arrival to get dinner at the hotel, but we’re delayed. A quick call an hour before the restaurant was due to close, and they hooked us up with a lovely, tasty takeout dinner which was very much appreciated—kudos to the chef and staff for making that happen!

Upon our arrival, there’s a special sign welcoming the pups for the night. We found our room all ready for our pup princess, with bowls on the floor and a collection of puppy treats in a cute bespoke box. We had pre-ordered a plate of cookies for the humans and we did the electronic check-in, so we all enjoyed a treat after a long day on the road. The room was old-style elegant, and the mattress was the most comfortable on our entire trip.

If you arrive early (before 3:30), there’s a tour you can request. Though a valet was advertised, one was not available for our stay, but parking was very convenient and free. The street area felt safe for walking and there’s a grassy area a few steps from the front door. Breakfast was included and served buffet style, with eggs, a soufflé, cereals, breads, and two bowls fresh fruit as well as yogurt. The fresh berries with no melon was a welcome addition for this allergy sufferer.

There’s no space for pups in the dining areas, so they get to relax in your room while their humans eat. We especially loved the loaner pup from the local shelter that can be taken for walks to get your exercise, and can even be adopted if you fall in love—they’ve found homes for 17 pups so far this year!
