Dog Friendly Campground

We camped here recently. Spots are somewhat close so be sure your dog is okay with close neighbors. It's a fairly active campground, especially during the moonbow. We trekked the campers path to the falls. Its dog friends but a moderate trail, decent distance, and requires extra water in the summer.

Great Park

We visited Blue Heron Mining Camp under the parks jurisdiction and had a nice hike and lovely chat with the ranger and staff in duty. We participated in the BARK Ranger program too!

Great Adventure

Recently we ventured to Big South Fork Scenic Railway. After discovering dogs were allowed, I knew we couldnt pass up the chance. I do warn my fellow fur parents there are lots of loud noises that are constant thru the ride as to be expected. Know your pet and plan ahead. In addition for my motion sickness friends, there is backwards travel, so I advise a seat in the table car where you can switch with a friend.

After a trip thru some beautiful country, a tunnel, and passing by Barthell Coal Camp we made it to Blue Heron Mining Camp. We explored the 'ghost structures' that held stories of life in the camp. It was a nice little hike. My favorite surprise was that the camp is under Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area which meant Oona had the opportunity to become a BARK Ranger ❤️
After review of her tasks, Oona was sworn in and even shook their hands.
