Tucked right between old downtown and the river, it’s pretty small with no shade. My lab sniffed around, relieved herself, then walked back to the gate and sat down. Meh.

The only negative I can think of is the lack of shade for humans. Otherwise it’s a huge park

But no restrooms or porta potties and I had to pee even worse than my dog did. And kinda weird parking. But whatever, Brighe liked it.

My dog Brighe absolutely loved this park, and I did too. Spacious with plenty of shade, a dog beach and all sorts of friendly dog folk. Fantastic for dropping by on your way through like we did, but if I lived here we’d be visiting everyday.

My dog and I loved this place. I’m a pretty big fan of dinosaurs so it was a no-brainer to stop by on our way through. Nice staff, and the dino walk was a blast.

It’s the cheapest dog-friendly hotel in the area, with a huge grassy space out back. Yeah the stairwell smelled a little suspect but the room was clean and everything worked. Honestly this was one of the better rooms I stayed in on my trip and it was definitely the cheapest.

This place is totally worth the detour through the mountains, and if you’re passing through anyway you might as well stop. Huge outside patio, super beautiful location, friendly staff that loves dogs. Also the basket of fried pickles was the best thing I’ve eaten all trip.
Nearby is Parquito Del Rio, just down the slope and across the river. Perfect place for a leashed dog to sniff around and pee.

Super friendly and accommodating staff, nice and clean with upscale appliances. Decent amount of manicured grass for a leashed dog to take care of business.

My old lab loved the Montville Nature Trail near the visitor center. Perfect for a quick visit on our way past, but you could definitely make a whole day out of it if you want to climb the actual dunes. Get there early though, like 8am

My dog Brighe loved this park, and especially socializing with people who might have had beef jerky in their pockets. Everyone was all too glad to pet my old gal, and the weather was perfect with some breeze and cloud cover. Great loop to walk with your “big” dogs. Definitely take the slight detour on your way through, your dog will love it here.
Also as a side note, the nearby shelter is pretty great too. Very clean with awesome staff.

Not on the huge side, but a great enclosure nonetheless. Mostly sandy dirt but with some woods by the far fence, my dog loved it back there. Location-wise it’s directly behind the ice rink building, which you have to walk around from the front parking lot.
