The good: sitting on the beautiful veranda enjoying a classic cocktail. Dinner in the 1902 restaurant. Elegant, great service and delicious food. Everyone was friendly. The bad: the hotel while grand, was worn including the carpeting and much of the furniture has not been maintained. We ended up checking out a day early because of our hotel room which was not inexpensive. Our room, H 123, a dog friendly room, was a nightmare. The mattress was hard as a rock. The sheets had stains. No light in the walk in closet. The toilet flushed poorly and loudly. The sink did not drain. No night light of any kind. If I left the bathroom light on so I could find my way in the night, it was so bright, it kept me up although I wasn’t sleeping due to the horrible mattress. These are the biggest concerns.

Also, no acknowledgment that we had a dog. Other less grand hotels offered some special item for the dog. When I went to the front desk to let them know I was going to check out a day early the next morning, I was not asked why. I would have told them that two nights without sleep was more than a woman my age can handle given this was to be a mini vacation. I asked if there was anything they could do for compensation but they said I had to call booking site. I did but was not offered any compensation. No one asked me why I was checking out early. I guess that is done on purpose. Will just say I am very disappointed.

After having a great experience at your Fredericksburg Hampton Inn, I canceled a reservation at another hotel and booked here at Hampton Inn in Florence. Our experience was consistent between both hotels. Friendly staff, very clean rooms and convenient to get around. We book the suites with a king bed. Very spacious and comfortable. Heading back to the Fredericksburg location tonight on our way home. Thanks Hampton Inn. You are doing it right. PS: My husband asked me to say that our rooms in both hotels were nicer, more comfortable than the room we had at Port Orleans Riverside in Disney!

Check-in was easy and pleasant. We had the first room by the parking lot door on the first floor which made it easy for us to move our luggage and our dog. We found the room clean and nicely decorated. We will stay here again! Thx BringFido for making it easy to travel with our pup!
