I've stayed at numerous Hawthorne Suites in the past, and all were nice places which I'd stay again. However, this place was not at all like a Hawthorne Suites. First, this was clearly an extended stay location, pretty rundown, with many units appearing to be long-term monthly renters by the looks of the grills, mixed patio furniture, clothes, and other things hanging off the railings. he parking lot was fairly littered, at least one car was up on "blocks" and a few others were randomly parked across multiple spaces. Several cars had windows down and/or broken. There is a basketball court with teenagers playing basketball at all hours of the night along with a good smell of weed. The unit alone smelled like smoke; there was a bloodstain on the wall, and the carpet and the couch were heavily soiled. The bed was comfy and the TV was new and large, but this place was an absolute dump. My wife slept fully clothed for fear of bed bugs. The air conditioner was noisy as were the neighbors; however, we did not hear the interstate road noise behind us, which was surprising. We didn't feel entirely safe here, so I would avoid if traveling solo or if just a female. It mainly gave us bad vibes as it reminded us of a public housing project. Yes, that bad, and I'm not exaggerating. If you are considering this place and another place that has a slightly higher pet fee, choose the higher pet fee. This place was significantly higher cost than others in the area, but I felt the Hawthorne name would garner a better environment, although I was wrong. I would avoid if at all possible. Luckily, our puppy dog didn't get fleas spending the night here.
