Awesome Spot!
Kiva BeachLoved finding this spot! As a previous reviewer said, the best access is by turning on Heritage and then making an immediate left to the parking area that has direct access to a short and scenic trail to the beach. You can go to the beach itself, or continue walking a trail the opposite direction along side the lake.
I'm sure it's busy on-season, but when we went (on a weekday in mid October at noon) there was plenty of parking, only a handful of people, and just a few dogs. Awesome experience and my dog was stoked to run alongside the beach and in the gorgeous clear water of Tahoe; the backdrop of the mountains made for some awesome pictures too!
Adorable and Great Location
Casa Del Mar InnWe booked the basic double queen room with my 85lb GSD. The room was adorable, quaint, and quiet. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice, welcoming, helpful, and immediately offered treats to my dog :) The added bonus of wine and cheese at check in was an unexpected and awesome surprise! The breakfast included some pastries, croissants, bagels, muffins, cereal, and juice.
The hotel is located in walking distance of the ocean/beach, pier, and multiple restaurants. We went during mid-October and the weather was perfect, so no issues with temps; however, I can see how it would be miserable during hot months as there was no AC in our room.
Personally had a great experience!
Recommend going Off-Season!
Sand Dollar BeachAwesome spot to have found!
Plenty of parking for us; there is a $10 cash only parking fee. The trip to the beach itself was short with a decent amount of stairs, but nothing too horrible.
The beach is massive! Went here off-season (Mid-October at 11am) and couldn't have been a better time. There was virtually no one there, just one family and two other couples during the hour or so we were there with our dog.
We must have missed the sand dollar season as we didnt even see one; nonetheless the beach itself was awesome to walk up and down and the view of the mountains was breathtaking.
Great Accommodations. Highly recommended!
Fisherman's Cove InnHad a great experience here! Front desk staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and offered treats to my dog at check in. My dog is 85lbs and they had no issues accommodating him as well as other large dogs I saw, so unsure why it says here only dogs up to 40lbs.
The first floor room we got (assuming they are all the same, but not sure) was updated with a modern and simple look, dark wood flooring, nicely tiled shower/tub, and all was *very* clean. Great room accommodations too such as fridge, microwave, mounted flat screen TV, and an electric fireplace.
The hotel is located just minutes away from an entire shopping mall one direction and a neat little "downtown" area with restaurants and bars in the other.
