Great Experience at Tea!!

Empress Lounge

We were recently in DC for a Capital Corgi Group Meetup for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Our group of 100+ people and maybe 60 or so corgis was meeting at the Jefferson Memorial and then taking a walk. I was hoping to find a dog friendly restaurant near the Jefferson Memorial to grab a meal after the corgi meetup ended. I was delighted to find that the Empress Lounge at the Mandarin Oriental serves high tea and is dog friendly. They actually had a special Cherry Blossom Festival tea event going on. While I believe they do accommodate guests with dogs on their patio for meals, I was told that they typically do not serve tea outside because the food is too delicate to be in the sun. They said they couldn't accommodate us on the main floor, but could on the upper level. I wasn't exactly sure what that meant, but was just happy that they were willing to accommodate us (3 adults and 4 well-behaved dogs). What it meant was that there were some seating areas that were in the lobby, immediately outside of the lounge. We were tucked into a cozy nook with comfortable seating and plenty of room for our girls to lie down and have a snooze. The tea was wonderful (both the quality of the food and the service). We also noticed guests checking in and out with dogs, so clearly, the Mandarin Oriental is dog friendly in general. I appreciate so much businesses that keep an open mind about those of us that love our dogs as much (if not more) than people and want to have them with us whenever reasonable. Note: there is parking very close to the Mandarin Oriental that you can prepurchase at a discount through SpotHero. It is at 1318 D Street SW (Portals III garage). We had a very comfortable walk to and around the Jefferson Memorial area and then on over to the mall and back.

Great experience!

Harry T's Lighthouse

My husband and I were visiting Destin/Fort Walton Beach for two weeks with our two corgis. We always consult bringfido for dog friendly places, but happened to be at Destin Dog Park and noticed one of the benches was donated by Harry T's, so we decided to check it out! It was down on the Harborwalk, which was a fun and attractive area along the water with activities and shops (including the dog friendly KittyHawk Kites and Life is Good stores). The outdoor seating area looked really nice, but there was a 35 minute wait, so they offered to let us sit indoors with the corgis, which is a first for us. They brought treats and a bowl of ice water for our corgis. We had brunch (seafood omelet, crab cake hollandaise, sides of collard greens, & bloody mary for me) and it was really delicious. Service was excellent! I already told my husband I want to go back tomorrow. :-) Highly recommended and corgi approved.

Great service and yummy German food!!

Fokker's Pub

Having been stationed in Germany when I was younger, I'm always on the hunt for German restaurants when I am on travel. We had our two corgis with us on this trip, and I was thrilled to find a German place we could take them. The only reason for four stars rather than five is because we have eaten a a bunch of dog friendly places in the area with really great patios, and while we were comfortable and happy enough on Fokker's patio (and grateful just to have any place to sit with our girls), if you are looking for a place with a lot of ambiance, this isn't really it. On the other hand, the German food was really good!! We had bratwurst and currywurst and several types of schnitzel and broetchen (which I haven't had in about 30 years) and a bunch of yummy sides and I was really happy! Our server was the best! He gave great recommendations, was attentive, and seemed like a genuinely nice guy! Overall, I highly recommend!

Great view and tasty food!

Angler's Beachside Grill

Angler's has a nice screened-in, dog-friendly deck on the back of the restaurant right on the beach. We went during the week for a relatively early dinner, and it wasn't busy at all. We snagged a great seat and enjoyed a relaxing dinner with a great view. Service was good. My husband had blackened redfish with scallops/shrimp/creole cream sauce on top, and I had the scallops with scallops/shrimp/creole cream sauce (called "loaded creole" on the menu) on top. Yes, I had scallops on top of my scallops and it was delicious! We agreed we would gladly come back here for another meal!

Dewey's Harborside excellent experience!

Dewey Destin Seafood Restaurant

Based on some of the other reviews on here, I was prepared to not be impressed, but a coworker of my husband's said this was one of his favorite places to eat in Destin, so we gave it a try. We came for lunch on a Saturday and were told that with our corgis, we could sit on pleasant patio on the side or at a lone, partially shaded table with a view of the water. We took the waterview table and felt like we had our own little private VIP deck. Great view! They brought water out to our girls and our server was great! My husband got the triple tail bronzed and I got the pecan crusted grouper. Yum yum yum! Really, really good. We will definitely eat there again!

Comfortable patio, good food, good service

AJ's Oyster Shanty

Overall, I would definitely recommend AJ's Oyster Shanty. Can't give it 5 stars because we have eaten on nicer patios and had better food while in the area, but AJ's was still really good and they were definitely dog friendly. Service was good. My husband had a blackened mahi salad that he said was very good and I had a very tasty crab stuffed fish dish, though I would have liked a little more crab and a little less breading in the stuffing. Still, overall a good experience.

Delicious food, charming dining areas, great service!!

Italian Food Company

I'm happy to be the first to review this new Key Largo restaurant! After eating seafood every day day for a week, we were hungry for something else, but needed a dog friendly restaurant and wanted really good food. I also had been disappointed with the ambience of some of our other Key Largo dog friendly choices where we were relegated to a hot patio overlooking an ugly parking lot or the highway. Italian Food Company was everything I hoped for and did not disappoint us! Dog friendly, the patios are an attractive oasis with their authentic Italian decorative tables, fans and water misters help cool things off, a water bowl was brought to our dogs right away, and the food....... so delicious!!!! We had pizza, pasta, and dessert and it was all wonderful! Be aware, the restaurant fills quickly as the locals have discovered this gem and are swarming to it. Every time we drove by, cars were parked up and down the road because the parking lot was full. Our workaround was to go for early dinner (4:30) and we had no trouble walking right in and getting a seat. The restaurant also sells nice Italian food products (pasta, sauces, cheese, meat, desserts, etc.) and ceramics. I highly recommend Italian Food Company!

Comfortable patio, acceptable food

Sharkeys Pub & Galley Restaurant

If I could give this 3.5 bones, I probably would. The food was pretty mediocre. But the patio overlooks boats and a little canal and was comfortable and our dogs were served water right away. Service was good. Some jerk kept coming out of the bar and onto the patio to smoke, which did not enhance our dining experience. Especially since we were seated right behind a fuel pump and he was smoking in close proximity to us. Definitely not our best meal in Key Largo, but also not our worst.
