Beautiful views

The Knob

The Knob and Cornelia Carey Sanctuary which is down the walking path are absolutely beautiful. There is one small beach area that dogs are not allowed but if you stay on the Knob trails it takes you around to other parts of the sandy shoreline that they can walk. You can walk way out to a point that has spectacular views and then loop around and back to the parking area. The stairs going to the water were blocked off but taking the train in the woods to the left brought us to the other side. Parking is very limited. It was busy when we went June 12 so I’m guessing the summer will be impossible. Get there very early.
Totally worth it if you can get there.

Nice fall hike.

Opacum Woods

Nice place for a hike. Trails are well marked but an app like AllTrails is a good thing to have as the trails change different trail colors and there are a couple trails off the main trail.
There are a couple really nice pond views. It was very dry when we went but I can see where it would be very muddy after a lot of rain.
The trail is at the end of a cul-de-sac with a small area to park.
I would say it is for moderate fitness level as there are a lot of rocks and tree roots and a couple places have a decent incline.

Absolutely beautiful

Halibut Point Reservation

this place is absolutely beautiful. You walk around the quarry. There a ton of lookout spots to get a better view.
You can look past the quarry and see the ocean. From there you can continue on the path to a viewing area that looks out at the ocean or continue on to the path to the water. At the water there are lots of rocks you can climb on or just sit and enjoy the view. My dog seemed to really love it. oh and there are other walking paths. Some with amazing views.
Parking for Massachusetts residents is $5
Be sure to grab a map at the entrance to the walking path. We missed them and as a result missed a few things.
It is a decent walk from the parking lot.
Be sure to bring lots of water for the dogs.
The walking paths do have some shaded areas.
Grab a bite to eat down the road at The Lobster Pool. They have outdoor dining that they allow dogs. Tables are by the water.

Cute Motel

Skaket Beach Motel

Cute, clean motel that allows dogs in the off season. We stayed for the weekend with a large dog. Room was very nice and spacious enough that it wasn’t crowded with two people and a large dog. We had room for a dog bed and to put food dishes out without them being in the way. Motel is close to a lot of stores, restaurants and beaches. There is a grocery store and pharmacy across the street.
