Great atmosphere, Shane that was bartending that day was so nice, and I LOVE that it’s not just dogs allowed on the outside patio, but they are allowed inside. I sat at the bar and ordered a flight, and my dog just chilled on my lap. They brew all their own beer. Highly recommend!

Pro: They allow dogs for free. Con: Everything else. STAY FARRRRRRRRR AWAY!!!!! Right before I came to this location, I had stayed at a Red Roof in Hilton Head. Red Roof as a whole is budget friendly and a little outdated, but the one in Hilton Head was fine - it was clean - what more can you ask for with a budget friendly hotel that allows dogs. So coming through Charleston I booked this one without looking at reviews or anything. I actually didn't plan on leaving a review about how DISGUSTING this place was, but now that I can't get any help with the money they incorrectly charged me I'm just going to put it all out there (and post this to as many sites as possible).
First room I was given reeked of cigarette smoke (at a "100% smoke free" hotel where you literally have to sign a paper saying you'll be charged $200 if you smoke but ok). And this was not recent smoke. It's like that old smoke smell; in the walls. I knew after a 2 day stay every thing I owned would smell like that so I asked for a new room. Get the 2nd room - still smells like smoke and is actually filthy. Can I add videos to this review? Because then I can show you the black tub, the mirror covered in toothpaste spray, crumbs on the table, microwave filthy... like this place was not cleaned. I went back to the office and just cancelled my reservation. I couldn't do it. Was told I'd be fully refunded for this and there was no issue with cancelling.
This was on 3/6. On my credit card statement I was charged on the 6th and also refunded the full amount on the 6th. Cool. Then on the 7th I was charged again the full amount of $168. Called the location on Friday the 11th and was told they'd look into it and that if I don't see the refund pending by Monday to call them. Called them Monday and the girl was surprised the manager hadn't handled it yet and said she'd call the manager and have her call me. By Tuesday hadn't heard so I called again, manager wasn't there. Called Wednesday during her working hours and was told she 'stepped out for an hour' so since this was now my 4th time calling I asked this person to have the manager call me back. It's the 21st and I've still never heard from the manager.
On Wednesday the 16th I ended up just reaching out to Red Roof Inn customer service by email. Went back and forth with them for a couple days and ended up having to call because they weren't answering my questions in my email (my question being, can you refund me for the incorrect charge or do I have to keep calling the actual location every single day?). Anyway - their customer service can't help. They only have the ability to refund one of the days and not my full 2-days I was charged for (again to clarify - the 2 days at a hotel I NEVER actually stayed at).
Just called my credit card company today to dispute the charge so now will deal with that process.
I will NEVER stay at a Red Roof Inn ever again. It would be one thing if the customer service could have helped make this right, but knowing that they can't actually do anything to help makes me weary of ever giving another location a chance.
