we visited frolic when it was 90°+ and it was too hot to sit under the black tarp, even though they had big fans running. they have an adjacent patio with picnic tables & umbrellas as well as misters, and the temperature difference was noticeable. wide variety of beers. incredibly friendly (and dog-loving) staff who didn’t seem bothered by serving guests outside in the heat. not our first time here and definitely not our last.

Delicious beer and friendly staff— their totally covered patio spot helped our dogs cool down after a hot walk along the river.

We went for brunch and we were welcomed onto the cool, shaded patio — and then had it all to ourselves. The patio is separated from the road which makes it nicer than most other patios in the area. They provided a dog bowl and gave our pups lots of attention. Both food & cocktails were delicious.

Tons of space to spread out— tons of beautiful greenery— tons of good beer— and super friendly staff. We love this place and stop in every time we are in KC. BYOF.

Victoria and her team could not have been more wonderful. Everyone greeted & treated our pups and made sure we had everything we needed. The dog package includes a dog bed and water bowl, as well as toys & bandannas! The hotel is across from a huge grassy area along the riverwalk of the Missouri River (they call it their dog run— just know it is not fenced). Also across from the hotel is a dog-friendly outdoor soccer bar with super friendly people. From the hotel, it’s an easy 1.5 miles along the river to get to the city market. Should we find ourselves back in KC, we will 100% return to Origin.

top to bottom, this place was incredible. gabe & jane were welcoming and accommodating, making sure that our first-time visitors were introduced appropriately to the day care pups. gabe was patient in helping us create a quick profile and checking our vax records (i recommend doing that before you walk in to speed up the process).
outside, it was insanely hot, so they had the sprinkler on to cool the turf. there are some tables in the sun, more in the shade, with scattered balls, ropes and other toys for all pups to share.
inside, we enjoyed beer, but they have shelves of liquor. we watched world cup soccer while the dogs laid on the cold floor.
thank you for a great stop on our road trip. we are so grateful for the respite you provided!

best view in all of bayfield! don’t miss it.

Patio was big enough for 3 dogs to be at least a table apart— hostess was lovely and understood the importance of space. she brought all the dogs water bowls even though they were super busy. also their fish fry was delicious.

Captain Joe was welcoming to our dog, Tuna and made sure she/we were comfortable. The cabin had space for her to relax and a bathroom for humans. They have life jackets for humans but be sure to bring one for your dog. We will definitely sail with them again!

only passed a few other “hikers” on a wednesday — easy, flat trail follows high above the shore line.

Our new fave northwoods spot. Tons of space so you don’t have to be near other dogs, great service, dog treats on the bar, options for shade & sun… we’ll be back.

Huge, fenced in, entry gates at top & bottom of hill, benches (and picnic tables but maybe don’t bring human food into a dog park?), shade, and a separate section for smaller pups. portapotty for humans too!

this place flies under the radar but it’s so legit we went twice in 24 hours. jenny & her crew were very accommodating for us when it was blazing hot to make sure tuna was okay. it was too windy to put up the umbrellas on the patio but we were cool and hydrated. bonus: their food & beer is excellent for humans!

We’ll be back. Contact-free check-in, spotless, cool corner of Madison & super simple. We ordered breakfast ahead of time for room service and they had fresh out of the oven complimentary doggie treats delivered with a smile. No carpets on the floors felt cleaner but made for more noise — and there were loud people upstairs (not the hotel’s fault of course). We’ll be back.

just to be clear— the water is considered the barrier on one half of the park. the rest is fenced and they have a smaller fully-fenced area for smaller & older pups.
