Check for extra fees

Watch for hidden credit card fees. My sister and I met here for the Easter holiday. When my credit card statement arrived, it revealed an additional fee of $427. I called the hotel because I received NO call or correspondence that this charge had been added and why. I called the hotel regarding this issue. The lady answering the phone told me she could help with billing questions and explained it was for a broken stove top in the room. I advised her that there was a small spidery crack in the corner when we checked into the room. She put the call through to a second lady who informed me she would have to check with her assistant manager and someone would call me back.

A week later, I recall the hotel because I had not heard anything from them. Again was advised they would let the assistant manager know. When I did get a call back it was the front desk staff, not the assistant manager. She informs me that I was reimbursed the stovetop costs but that was only $266.87.

The remaining $160.13 was for damage to a mirror. I advised we did not damage the mirror. On further checking that fee was because we had a bunny sticker on the mirror that left a residue. I advised her that I’ve used these stickers for years and all it takes is a little Goo Gone and the residue was easily removed in minutes, the mirror would not need replacing. Then, she decided it was a cleaning fee alleging it took housekeeping staff 1.5 hours to remove it.

I informed her because I had not packed any, we left the maid a $50 tip knowing it would take longer to clean the room with the sticker residue and dog hair. (I had already paid the $25 per night pet fee. However, that goes to the hotel, not the cleaning staff doing the work.)

Additionally, when I asked why I was not advised of this fee when I initially called, she informed me that whomever I spoke couldn’t read a bill correctly and should not have given me any information. In the end, I was charged an additional $90 to have a mirror cleaned. Needless to say, I will not be staying here on my next visit to Mooresville.

Check credit card statement

I was billed twice for my pet fee. After multiple calls, I was assured it was refunded. All that was refunded was the tax on the pet fee. Two weeks have passed and still not corrected.

No more Baymont Inns and Suites for us

I normally do not bother to complete any satisfaction survey. However, this establishment made me obligated to warn other pet parents.

When selecting lodging for out of town trips, I always look towards supporting a chain that supports pet owners, even if my big guy is not traveling with me. I was most impressed that Baymont Inns and Suites, not only accepted large dogs but did not charge a pet fee. The pics on the website seem to indicate that it was an acceptable establishment for its tier. Thus, I made our reservation.

The first thing I noticed on arrival that this was a motel that had been converted to a hotel; and, the exterior doors remained. Although you wouldn’t call the rooms filthy, you could tell they suffered from neglect, e.g., dirty corners, wallpaper peeling off in some spots, caulking repairs in bathroom done poorly, and shower rod not attached to wall on one end and barely attached on the other. The beds features mattresses that were far from new and quite uncomfortable. But the most disgusting thing about our entire stay occurred while packing up to leave, we were trying to locate a dog toy. Looking under the beds for the toy, we found not only an impressive array out of “dust bunnies” but also a full sharps container with what we assumed to be used syringes.
