We were traveling through Gainesville and stopped for some energy release for our puppy and she loved it! Super friendly dog and people. Also the trees have grown more than the pictures on the site, so there are more shade possibilities. If you are a lounger, I would bring a folding camping chair.

Pros: Lots of room for dogs to run, water station, waste bags, and trash cans.
Cons: HUGE hole at one of the benches in shade that could easily cause a broken dog’s leg or human ankle, ponding area after rains, not enough shade
Visiting from Kentucky and this was a good place for @leothegreatdog to run off some energy. - SSCOct. 10, 2020Good, clean basic dog park
Possum Creek dog park is just what a city dog park should be-well maintained, clean, and safely fenced. There is only one water fountain per side and it is the kind you have to keep pressing as the water drains, but that means the water is always fresh. And the big dog side does have a muddy puddle area after rains-my dog has his leptospirosis shot so I don't worry too much about funky water. Everyone was super nice and the dogs that were there the day we visited were great. No errant poops and owners kept an eye on their dogs and interactions. There is a segue way area in-and it is the only way in or out of the little or big dog sides. The hose for washing is also the kind you have to keep pressing to get a flow so no one leaves water running accidentally. For a good washing it is helpful to have someone hold the button down while you flush your pup. There are some trees on each side so it is possible to find some shade, even while socially distancing. Really, this is a big, great park and will be on our list for every visit to Gainesville!

The dog park is hiding behind the skateboard area. (no signs) A bit of a walk from the parking lot. Separate Lg & small play areas. Supplies waste bags & doggy fountains. A hose to rinse your pup and a kitty pool for pups to cool. Limited benches, limited shade. Sandy for the roller & diggers (easy to fill back in) and grass for the running pups. A walkable bathroom near by in the general park. I posted a couple pic below

I was looking for a place to let the dogs run and give them a break from the car. Found this dog park and it was perfect!! Huge space to let big dogs run, very friendly dogs and people. I wish it was close to home so I could come back.

- SergioMore than a year agoGreat space, good people
The park is located north on NW 43rd ST, turn right on 53rd Ave, then right again into the park. The dog areas are not next to the parking space. There are sections for small and larger dogs. Hose with water, quite spacious. Very good regular people who control the dogs in the most part. Been going every weekend have made a lot of friends. Parking free, park is free.
