    Red Bug Slough Preserve is a dog-friendly nature preserve in Sarasota, FL. There are several trails that you can enjoy with your pup, some of which afford views of a small lake. There are two picnic shelters were you can share a snack with Fido. Be aware that you may encounter alligators during your visit, so keeping your dog leashed is imperative.       All natural and gentle

      saw a lot of wildlife, met some other friendly dogs. plenty to smell and explore in a quite little preserve

      Notes from the Preserve Manager

      I'm the preserve manager at Red Bug Slough Preserve and I wanted to post a few corrections to the information on this page. The address to this County-owned preserve is actually 5200 Beneva Road, Sarasota, FL. The preserve is an on-leash only, dog-friendly preserve. We also ask that visitors bring their own doggie bags and pick up and properly dispose of pet waste in trash cans provided on site. Thanks for your help in protecting the sensitive wildlife and native plants found within the preserve by keeping all pets on a leash and staying on designated trails. Have a safe and enjoyable visit to this beautiful gem in the midst of Sarasota!
