Red Bug Slough Reserve Lots of shaded trails and interesting smells for the dogs! My dogs loved it there. Great to see a city preserve natural beauty and not build condos etc on it. Big pond/lake in the middle of it so the dogs could go in and cool down. Didn't see any dog water fountains but there were poop bags at the entrance off Beneva Rd and lots of trash cans throughout. Lakeview Paw Park Everything we could have asked for to make our pooch, and thus...us, happy while traveling and not knowing where to let her run off leash. 2 acres of fenced in shade for dogs over 20 lbs., plenty of water bowls, hose, doggie pools provided....and lots of tennis balls all over! Park has a smaller area for puppies and dogs under 20 lbs. Very pleasant discovery! Highly recommended. See Details

Fort De Soto Dog Beach Park The Fort De Soto Park has large fenced areas for both large and small dogs, including dog showers for those hot days. Dogs are allowed anywhere in the park on a six-foot leash, except on any beach. The Paw Playground area is the exception -- dogs are allowed on the beach, and they are allowed off leash on that area of beach. They can also run free inside the fenced areas. On a hot summer day, you can cool off your dog by hosing him down, and drinking water is available too. The park also has plenty for two-legged visitors too -- an old Spanish fort to explore, gorgeous parks, overnight camping with plenty of amenities, and picnic areas. This park is for the enjoyment of our canine visitor.
Aggressive dogs will not be allowed to remain in the park.
Dogs must wear a current license tag and have a current rabies vaccination.
Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the park.
All dogs within the fence must be off leash.
Choke collars are prohibited.
Dog owners must be present, with leash, and in view of their dog at all times.
Dogs must be under voice control at all times.
Dog feces must be picked up and disposed of by the owner.
Owners must immediately fill in any holes dug by their dogs.
Feeding the squirrels is prohibited inside the dog park.
People food is prohibited inside the dog park.
Alcoholic consumption is prohibited in County parks.
The small dog area is recommended for small, fragile, or elderly canine visitors.
Children may accompany the family pet if they are under the direct supervision of an adult.
In all cases, owners are responsible for the actions of their dogs.
Canine and human visitors enter at their own risk. Manatee County cannot be responsible for injuries to visiting dogs, their owners, or others using the park.
All special events should be requested through the Parks and Recreation Department.
NO park personnel on duty in the dog park.
