Such a beautiful beach!!

Such a beautiful beach!!

There is approximately a 1 1/4 stretch of beach in Rye New Hampshire. In the middle of that stretch along the coast is a parking lot. The State beach is actually directly in front of that parking lot and/or from house on the left to house on the right. Beaches on either side of that tiny State beach are town beaches. You could almost throw a softball from one end of the State beach to the other. Dogs are not allowed on the State beach. To get around that law (if you want to walk the entire length of the beach) just walk around the beach in the parking lot. The hours for dogs allowed on the beach Memorial Day to Labor Day are before 9:00 am and after 7:00 pm. Please read sign posted at all entrances.

Opportunity to introduce your dog to the ocean

I have brought my two little dogs to Rye beach many times and they love it. It's good to see the police have a presence there. My younger dog has been attacked on several occasions by out of control dogs.

I don't understand any of these negative reviews. I've been going to this beach with my dogs for more than ten years and have nothing except wonderful things to say about it. For those people that don't think they should follow the rules for in-season dog visit hours...stay home. I'll take a dog over most people, but people lying on the beach or with little kids don't want to worry about dogs that aren't properly trained by their owners. A dog with bad behavior or an uncontrolled dog is always the result of a bad owner. If they can't pass an AKC Canine Good Citizen test, they need to be on a leash...anywhere. That's your fault, not the dogs. Remember...if your dog bites someone because you haven't socialized them and spent time training them, you're the one who will feel terrible when your furry friend is euthanized. God forbid! For the people who complain about parking fees? It's FREE out of season and FREE during allowed dog visit hours in-season. If your dog won't come on command, even when excited by other things going on, you are the reason for dogs getting a bad rap and not liking this beautiful beach. For the person who thinks the owners are watching all the time to call the police? What planet are you from?
Like I said, ten years and well over a thousand visits and I've NEVER had a problem with anyone or any dog. This beach is my idea of dog heaven!! But sniffing, chasing balls and Frisbees, meeting new furry friends, what more could a good dog want? Complainers - stay home...go be an internet troll somewhere else. The rest of you dog lovers - see you at this'll love it.
Out of season dogs are welcome anytime and it's common on weekends to have 20-30 dogs having a blast. I'm heading there today!!

    Forget it dog owners

This is really not a dog friendly beach. My wife and I took our Border Collie to this beach and will not be returning. We were issued a summons by the Rye Police Department-and I am not going to pay it!!!!!

    Worst dog beach

The dog allowed times are ridiculous .. but people can bring their dirty kids and let them run around the beach anytime. What a shame . I'll drive to Maine!!

    Dogs? No!

Let's be honest.... New Hampshire does not want your dog on any of the beaches. The time-frames allowed are ridiculous.

Thanks so much, bring your dog and all your friend's dogs to Maine

DO NOT Bring Your Dog Here!

Do not bring your dog to Jenness Beach! I brought my dog, Buddy (the best Golden Retriever in the world) to Jenness Beach last summer. I was issued a ticket for not having Buddy under my control.

I found out from others that the owners of the houses on the beach are watching all the time for a reason to call the police for dog issues. Is this how the town of Rye pays their bills?

Forget Jenness Beach and their Gestapo tactics! I'm going to Maine from now on!

    Great for Dog Walking

We bring our dog there frequently. Parking is expensive but it's free to park on the road. You can then walk to one of the Rye town entrances down a side street. There are there signs that say dogs are allowed before 9am and after 7pm.

    very dog friendly!

Yes, the part of the beach that is "state" beach (in front of the parking lot) does not allow dogs, but the rest of it that is owned by the town does allow dogs. Very friendly people and dogs. The beach is beautiful, too!
