  Beware of two black shepherds

  This is an on-leash trail. If you want to break that law, be sure your dog has great recall and that you keep them away from other dogs and people. I recently had an encounter with an incredibly strange and rude woman in the greenbelt with two aggressive black shepherds. She explicitly said her dogs weren't friendly and then let them charge me and my dog. Then she yelled at me and said I'm the one who needs to adjust so her off-leash dogs can try to behave better on the public trails. I reported all of this to the city. Beware of this woman and her dogs. They are not under control and they have an owner who could care less about other people trying to enjoy this public space.

  Cool place for humans and dogs

  Cool, wet spot. Our 5 month old pup enjoyed the water. Only problem was an off leash dog that was growling at dogs, kids and adults. Don’t be that jerk. If you have a growling dog baring it’s teeth, please leash it.

  Great Trails

  If you are going for the actual creek research it before you go! It was completely dried up! We were wanting to swim but it was still fun!

  Off Leash, of course

  Unless your dog is a complete @sshole, and you know if he/she is, you should feel free to go off-leash. If you are on the main trail you need to understand it is high traffic for hikers/bikers and if your dog doesn't do well with passing people or bikes you should leash. I see people panning MTBers here but as a general rule most are respectful. If you simply don't like them on the trail with you then get some help with your issues.

  Used to be Better, Mt. bikers have become asses

  I used to let my dog off the leash in certain areas. Now I come back and a 10ft dog leash sign was put up at the entrance. I’m sure it was put up because mountain bikers going way too fast saw our dogs as speed bumps. Sorry you have to slow your roll bro, last time I checked bikes yield to pedestrians. Appease the 10% I guess.

  Great place, especially in the summer

  We loved visiting Barton Creek because it is so much fun to let our dog run off the leash and enjoy the water. The only downside is that there are no trash cans at the creek so if your dog poops and you pick it up, be prepared to carry the bag around until you leave.

  Police now troll the greenbelt.

  Looks like the speedy biker has his way. 80% of dogs are off leash in this park. If you need to bike that fast please find another trail. This trail is full of local residents who enjoy the park with their pets, swim, and rock climb.

  NO OFF-LEASH Pkease

  As the entire Greenbelt is with the city limits, there is NO AREA OFF-LEASH anywhere within the park.
  Because some other dog owner has the hubris to run Fido off-leash should not give license to the rest of us.
  There are many bikers riding at speeds that will crush a small dog. If an accident were to occur, it is all but assured your off-leash actions will lay all the liability upon your shoulders.

  And can we all please carry out Fido's poop with us rather than leaving bagged alng the trail to 'pick up on return. This best of intentions is not always borne out

  Great park- but contrary to the other reviewer, please note that NO parts of this park allow off-leash dogs! Your dogs are welcome on leash.

  Good Hiking and Easy Access

  This is a great shady hike to do with your dog that is very accessible from most parts of Austin. There are multiple access points along 360 and Mopac: the trail is quite long. Remeber to bring water if it has been dry recently since the creek will get bone dry.

  Also remember that your dog needs to stay on leash for the majority of the trail. However, you can find off-leash areas near some of the waterfalls. You'll know you're at one of them because you'll hear the water and probably get a greeting from someone else running around off-leash.
