Huge tick problem, I spent less then 10 minute there and I was fighting about 15 ticks off of one of my dogs that peed in the bush. I got most of them but was too late and one got into my dog. The rest of the day was spent finding the tick remover tool and babying my poor chihuahua. Never again.

We hiked out to black rock beach and my dog was covered in ticks! I must of pulled 30 ticks off of him…. Never again, the park needs to manage this issue!

I'm relatively new to Jacksonville and hear a lot about Big & Little Talbot Island. We took our pup here the other day and barely made it 300yds before we found 15-20 ticks on our dog. We immediately got rid of the ticks and ran back to our car to leave. There are no notices and we talked to the park rangers before entering the park. All they told us was that dogs are not allowed on the beaches. Before heading home, we stopped back by the ranger station and let them know and they said "yeah, it's bad out here right now." I understand it being "at your own risk" but letting people know would be helpful.

While you cannot take your pet pal to the beach at the main park, your friend can go all over the camping area. There is a nature trail, lots of areas to play, and you can take your pet down to the dock area to play in the water. The camping is beautiful, shady, and well set up.
