Little Talbot Island State Park

Dogs are welcome at Little Talbot Island State Park in Jacksonville, FL, one of Florida's last remaining undeveloped barrier islands. You can bring Fido with you to enjoy the pet-friendly nature trails, hiking trails, paved roads, parking lots, campground, pavilions and picnic areas. One of the most popular trails is the Dune Ridge Trail Loop, winding four miles through dunes and marshes. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on beaches or in the waters around the island. This rule is to protect the wildlife in the area. Visit Website

A beach park where dogs are not allowed on the beach

The primary attraction of Little Talbot Island State Park is access to the beach where dogs are not permitted. There is a 4-mile hiking trail loop, but there are plenty of places nearby to hike with a dog that do not have an entrance fee. The nearby Fort George Island Cultural State park is much more welcoming to dogs.

    Beware-So many ticks!

We took your dog for a walk therr passing a group of people who were holding their dogs saying they found ticks all over both their dogs. We checked our pooch and found 30+ all over her.

I don't know if ticks are always an issue, but we won't be taking our dog back because of this.
