Drove through and decided to stop! Lots of fun but it is definitely cold on a windy day.

The idea of this park is GREAT! Any my dog had a great time. But...the folks that use this park are the problem. Between my husband and myself, we cleaned up at least 30 piles of poop. Glad they provide bags so we could clean up and allow our dog to have a good clean time!
The water is a great feature on a hot day. We were traveling through and the positive reviews, although a year or more prior, got my attention. It's worth the trip, just know you will need to clean up after other dogs.

Wow! What great fun! Water everywhere, other dogs, and some great land to run on, too. It doesn’t get any better. This dog park merits planning you trip around it.

Less than 10 minutes from the highway and near several hotels. Two fenced areas - one designate for small dogs with grass and agility obstacles and a second area for dogs of all sizes on the beach. The beach area also wraps around via the beach itself or a small path. The water looked terrible - lots of organic matter (presence of toxic algae a concern). I wouldn't recommend letting the animals drink the water. There is a water fountain before the entrance gate to the area by the restroom. There is also separate spigot to wash your dog after playing. Plenty of parking. Nicely done.

I can’t say enough good things about Dog Island!! Our last stop on a cross-country road trip with our Labrador happened to be in Grand Island. After checking into the hotel we took off to Dog Island so Miss Beast could get some exercise and play after long hours in the car. She loved it!! It was about 5 minutes from the Rodeway Inn, less than 10 minutes from the highway if you’re just stopping for the dog. Lots of parking. Clean area. There is a fenced in Small Dog area. The Large Dog area has a small sandy beach as you enter and goes right to the water. The area covers a large expanse with plenty of room for laps, ball throwing, and general frolicking. Our Labrador, who up until now has eschewed any opportunity to get wet or play in the water, decided she would join a game of chase in the water. She enjoyed running in the water, splashing around, and playing with two other Labs we encountered. There were poop bags available and plenty of space so Miss Beast could poop in private away from other dogs. Nearby waste receptacles and aforementioned bag stations, made the experience easy. Wish we had more time there.

Dog Island is one of the best dog parks we have seen in our cross-country journeys. The island is surrounded by water complete with Sandy beaches. (Clogs we’re not the best footwear🐶)
I was impressed by how clean the park was - very few poops. - MichelleOct 14, 2020Fantastic! Worth the stop
Just a couple of miles off I-80. Tucker, the Goldendoodle says, "This place was the perfect stop for me to run around, swim a little, play Frisbee, do a short hike, and for my owner to have a picnic". We highly recommend this place if you are travelling across Nebraska.

Our pup loved the sandy beach and trails. There is full access to a lake for swimming. Bathrooms for people, too. Terrific stop as we drove east on I80.

We took our dog there on our way through town. Wish we had this at home. Huge area for the big dogs and a fun small dog area too.

I stopped here in the Spring to give my two girls a break after a long travel day. I was there for over an hour and a half because one of them was having so much fun she didn’t want to leave. They love running and playing in the water and just exhausted themselves. I assumed they would get muddy and was planning to bathe them at the motel. It was worth the trouble!
