    The best dog park!

Clean, large area, and within a larger park. It is at the back of the McAllister park but work the drive. You can come in the Buckhorn Road side and get to it quicker. The real address is: 8418 Buckhorn Rd, San Antonio, TX 78247

    Best in SATX

we have a German Shorthaired Pointer. She loves to run, but gets hot quickly. McAllister Dog Park has big shade trees for relief from Texas heat. The park has wood chips instead of dirt everywhere, which keeps her paws clean! love this park!

    Awesome Dog Park

This is probably my favorite Dog Park in San Antonio. Very large space, lots of trees for shade and centrally located in San Antonio. Only bad is its next to the airport so you’ll occasionally hear planes landing and taking off right above you. Great trails for run/walk or bike as well.

Be Wary of Trash Dog Owners

My dog has loved this park. I agree that most dogs and dog owners who come here are awesome; Thoughtful, and friendly. However a woman decided this park was a good park to ABANDON her dog last week and the whole event traumatized my puppy and I. The dog owner who abandoned her dog was about 5'10" was a brunette with shoulder length wavy hair that she kept pinned back. When I arrived she was on phone and her dog was playing with my 1 yr old Doberman/Pointer mix puppy. Her dog was a pit mix Next thing I know she's gone and it's dark and there's no other cars in lot but mine. I was too busy watching my dog that I didn't notice her leave. Anyway it was freezing and I couldn't just leave her, especially after the city told me they couldn't pick her up for up to 24 hours. I tried to take her home just for the night. I checked her for fleas and no worms and we happened to have an extra crate so we could put her up for the night. The next day the city mistakenly closed my case and I had to report her again. My dog and her did not really get along without tension so I brought her to vet to see if she was microchipped. She is. According to vet this dog is fixed, microchipped and goes by name of Alice and it's about 3 yrs old. We tried calling last listed owner but nothing. I brought her back to park to see if anyone recognized her or if anyone posted her pic. She attacked my dog while at park and would have attacked others were it not me holding her on leash. I had to drive her myself you Animal Care Services and relinquish her to the city. The whole thing traumatized my family, my dog, and definitely makes me think twice about bringing my baby back to McAllister.

    Puppy Social Hour

Clean areas, two sides, one for smaller dogs, one for larger/ mixed sizes. Clean, fresh water, clean equipment, other dog owners are polite, toys can be brought and left there for others to use while visiting. It is a nice location and there is also a huge open field next to it and trails for a nice walk, jog, or run with the fur family. We enjoy this location. Only "eh factor" is the parking is tight on one side of the park closest to the dog park.

Love this park, but car broken into

This is my favorite dog park in San Antonio. I bring my pup almost every day—she loves playing with the other dogs and I enjoy chatting with the regulars. But today while visiting the park with a friend, someone broke into our car in broad daylight on a busy Saturday. They smashed in the back window and took my purse (which was hidden) and a bag full of my dog’s treats and supplies. They managed to use my credit cards to buy Bill Miller’s BBQ before we canceled the cards.

    love this pup park

I love brining our fur babies here. Most if not all all the dogs brought to this park are friendly and playful. The only thing is that I wish people wouldn't bring their small children. Some of the dogs knock them down and then you have to listen to a crying kid bc their parents are absent minded. Only down side. Other than that I love the location, people and other dogs. -J

    Dog Park

We've brought our dog here for about a year now and loved it, last night, Thursday the 18th, a larger dog like a greyhound attacked our schnauzer. My wife was alone when this happened and my dog ended up having multiple open wounds front it's ears and belly. We had to bring it to an emergency Vet to have surgery. We unfortunately did not get the dog owners info and are thus left with the bill. Other than this experience the dog park has been amazing.

    Fun Time

Brought my two husky shepherd mixes here for the first time. The park was nice. My dogs had a blast. There were owners not paying attention to their dogs. There was some dog poop that was not being picked up, but my dogs still had a blast. Will return again.

    Where everybody knows your name.

Great place for BIG dogs…I’ve been coming here for two years with my two black labs. I always see the “regulars” here, we all know our dog's names. This park has plenty of tables and benches spread throughout with great shade. My dogs and love it here.

    great park!

First of all, we are rating the park. Not the owners of the other dogs.
This park is nice, lots of shade, several water bowls, an doggie bags. I'm a regular at this park for 2 or 3 years and my dogs love it. Yes, sometimes dog owners can't behave but that's something we have to deal everywhere.

    so much fun

This was our 8month old border collie's first time to a dog park. We are just visiting from Oklahoma. We had an amazing time 2 days in a row. Lots of great great dogs and people. Wish we had a dog park where we live.

    ok

It has potential but people don't clean up after their dogs here. There is POOP everywhere. People don't control their dogs either. Their dogs are starting fights and the owner just watches and says "it's okay." If you can't control your dog maybe a dog park isn't the place for you.

    Car broken into

The other day my parents were at the dog park soon to find out someone had busted our window and my bag was taken. Nothing expensive, but my Bible and my Bible journal were in my bag with pens and it breaks my heart because I do not know where my cherished items are. Please be on the lookout for a floral print bag or a purple journal or a pink and brown big Bible. Please turn it in because it would mean the world to me. God bless, and please help.

    Dog Owners Ruin Visit!

Stopped coming to this park due to owners not picking up after their animals. Recent re-visit showed that has not changed. Seems to be a regular group who act entitled to not control their dogs. Too bad. Nice park, great location.

    CRAZY

You take your dog to the park to have fun. I was pissed off at other dog owners not paying any attention to what their dog is doing and the problem they caused.

    lots of play equipment

Lots of play equipment for the dogs, walking path for the parents. Small dog area disappointing but we didn't have any problem being in the big dog area even with a chihuahua

    FUN TIME!

AWESOME PARK...I took my 8 month pup (Pit/Lab mix) and my 11 year old Lab/Chow mix and they had a blast. Everyone there was so approachable humans included...it was a great time to burn off the puppy energy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
