They note the park is well-maintained, with friendly dog owners and opportunities for socialization, though some caution about overgrowth in certain areas and potential for muddy conditions. - WilliamAug 7, 2024Disappointing
With all the good reviews I expected more. Overgrown, bad fencing, and the area gives one a bad feeling as I noted most every had someone sitting in it and no dogs in sight. I didn’t even bother to get the dog out of the car due to the vibe of the place.
- CathleenAug 5, 2024Great place for a dog to run
Visiting from Pennsylvania and found this to be a great place to let our girl run. Free to enter, they have bowls for drinking and there was also water jugs but bring your own just in case. The area is mucky after a rain so we also brought towels and wipes. She did get some stickers in her fur. Next time I will also bring a dog comb/brush.
- ChelseaJul 1, 2024Small dog area overgrown
The small dog area is in desperate need of weed whacking, but otherwise would have been perfect for our pup. Hard to find - enter through main entrance double gates. Take an immediate left, over the bridge, maybe 500ft down on the left is a grassy foot path to the overgrown side gate entrance. Otherwise great (but mucky) walking trails :)
- MeghanMay 25, 2024Hidden Gem!
We were visiting the area and it was the perfect spot for our dog! He loves hikes and trails but it was the coolest spot since the entire “trail” is fenced in! What a great find!
- JulieMay 10, 2024Best dog park
Love the setup in this park and the freedom for dogs to explore the woods and not just some flat grass area. Definitely a must do!
- BetsyJul 3, 2023A joyful romp in the woods
The large fenced in woods is a perfect safe place for a dog to run and explore! Everyone was very friendly and my pup had a great time with his new friends.
- AndreMar 5, 2023Best park I encountered between Maine and Georgia
I was at the park with my Golden Doodle Lucy on a beautiful day after a snow storm. We went on a nice walk though the trails and encountered about a dozen dogs in a field at the top on a small hill. Lucy had a grand time playing with very friendly, well behaved dogs who where all being watched attentively by there humans. And being in Maine, I also met some very nice dog people.
- GretchenJun 25, 2022Great location on a hot day
Lots of shaded trails and my pup was able to meet and socialize with other dogs while getting lots of exercise.
- AmandaApr 29, 2022Perfect Woods
The perfect fenced in area for dog socialization. Plenty or areas to sniff and explore while meeting new pups along your way.
- LindaOct 11, 2021Great fun!
love having a fun place to let your dog explore off leash! highly recommend.
- AprilOct 6, 2021Fabulous!
Like everyone else said, this place is lovely. Fenced in (although some areas of fencing are flimsy). A great place for me to take her for her first off-leash "hike." She ran, I got to walk, and she came when I called. Woo hoo!
- DanielleSep 27, 2021Huge!
This place is huge and great!! You enter in a wooded areas with a hill in front of you. There are 3 main “trails” you can take from this point. To the right goes I’ll and around the perimeter of the property and through the woods. Straight takes you directly to an open area in the middle of the park. The flow is to go right (or straight), circle around to the open area and then end up at the left side of the entrance. I will say, at the left side, there are 2 areas along the path that seem to always have sludge on them. if you have a dog that likes to roll in the mud, have the leash handy. Trust me!!
- AngelaAug 20, 2021Wonderful place!
We are here visiting from out of town and we’re so happy to find this park. Clean and just overall an awesome place for the dogs yo run free and explore.
- ChloeJan 18, 2021So Many Furry Friends
This was awesome, I was nervous that there wouldn’t be many dogs but I was wrong. My dog left tired and slept for days!!
- SongsongDec 21, 2020Awesome dog park!
This is the first dog park we've brought out puppy to and he loved it! There were so many friendly dogs and the wealth of trails allows good opportunities for loose-leash walking. We are planning on regularly visiting this park.
- MarechalOct 12, 2020Great Dog Park for a Wooded Adventure!
Quarry Run is easy to get to from the highway if you're traveling through Portland. It's mostly shady with trails up a hill to a gazebo where people like to sit while dogs play. Nice people, nice dogs. My pup loved it!
- NicoleOct 21, 2019Such a great spot - long coats beware!
This place is absolutely beautiful! Plenty of room for my small dog Clover to run, explore and play with other dogs. Beware of burrs! My girl is a maltese/poodle mix, she may have picked up every burr in this park last time we were there - including a couple on her eye! :-( I advise bringing some scissors, a brush and possibly some wireless clippers if you have a long haired, thick coated dog.
- AshleyAug 5, 2019Loved it!
I passed through on my way from CT to Moosehead Lake in Maine. It was about halfway, perfect to let the boy get out and run! Everyone we met was very nice! We did the fenced in area and the unfenced part. Great place!
- JennaJun 16, 2019Awesome Spot!!
While traveling to Maine with our 8 month husky mix we stopped here after reading so many great reviews. We have nothing like this in jersey city and it was really cool to see her off leash exploring woods with other pups and their fam. Great spot to get her energy out and practice recall. Bring bug spray and wear shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty! The fences are also a bit unstable so if your dog is really determined they could probably jump or bulldoze through it but even on leash I bet any pup would enjoy.
- BrianAug 20, 2018Good location
We were visiting from Boston and decided to head to the dog park before going to a restaurant on the wharf in Portland. It worked out perfectly because it allowed our puppy to play with other dogs and get her energy out before heading to lunch. Would highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for a park close to the city
- MichelleMay 29, 2018Nice park
Fenced in. Woods to explore. They even had water bowls with water along way on trails. Not terribly populated, but enough dogs to let my pups be social. Only complaint was my 2 pups became mud hounds as they got into a poorly fenced marshy area. My yellow lab was brown. My shepherd was also able to hop fence to get in. They love water and are determined to be dirty. Lol. Otherwise, it was a great walk. My beagle mix loved exploring the woods.
- TarraMore than a year agoA great spot!
We've had nothing but good experiences here. There are always dog bags handy (just in case)and plenty of space to wander around alone if your pup is a bit anxious- with a lovely open area if they're feeling social. The people here have been very sweet, which always makes the park more fun.
- GayleMore than a year agoPerfect
Whether you want to take a walk or let your pup play , this is s wonderful place!
- CarolynMore than a year agoExcellent Dog Park
This was the best dog park I've been to so far. We stopped by on our weekend getaway, and I didn't expect much considering it was mid-February. Banjo met about seven other very friendly dogs of all sizes, breeds, and ages, and he had a lot of fun running and jumping and snuffling and biting. Their owners were also friendly humans. I loved that it wasn't just a flat empty lot, but had trails and different play areas. I didn't see any poo or garbage in the snow; everyone there cleaned up after their own pets and was very attentive to their dogs play style, stepping in when it got a bit rough or when a little one needed a moment to rest.
Personal note re: other comments: I would NOT be so supportive of this park if it had breed restrictions. My dog is not considered a bully breed, still, I will not support what is essentially canine racism. Please keep this area welcoming to all responsible dog owners and understand that a well-trained dog is a well-socialized dog.
- AlisonMore than a year agoGreat dog park
Recently my husband and I have been bringing our 6 month old Pit/Boxer/Lab mix to the dog park to get him socialized. We have been a few times, the first two times we had awesome experiences. The dogs and owners were great with him. But recently the last time we went, we were on our way up to the open section of the dog park and unfortunately a dog (possibly a shepherd mix) attacked my dog, who was just smelling her. I do recommend the park, but ask owners to make sure that their dogs are sociable, and to always keep an eye on your dog.
- HelenMore than a year agoYou should ban a breed!
The park is beautiful my puppy absolutly loved it there! As for the ignorant comment banning a breed of dogs you should ban bad parent not all pitbulls are bad dogs just the owners who dont train them properly. Besides that i would highly recommend it????
- AndreaMore than a year agoIn Bethel ME
My husband and I went to this park last week. It was a tuesday, but we were pleasantly surprised that there were other people and dogs there for our dogs to socialize with. In the past, it has been our experience that most dog parks are empty mid-week. I was slightly disappointed in all the trash and frozen dog poop spread around, but I do realize it is that time of year and soon that will get cleaned up. All the dogs we met were friendly and got along with our Chinook and Cane Corso just fine. It was nice to chat with other dog people. We will hit this park every time we head to Portland from now on.

Sept. 15, 2013
I have been visiting for 6 months with Kango the red Husky, this past Sunday he was attacked by 2 pit bulls around 11:30 AM at the play area. Fortunately, the pit bulls were muzzled but had my 50 lb dog on his his back as they tried to maul him. I would suggest banning pit bulls or require they be muzzled within the fenced area. - NicoleMore than a year agoMust go if in Portland!
This place is amazing! My dog Penelope loved it! First we went to the dog park and played with other dogs for a while, then we went on the trails and went hiking to the open field where she ran around with another dog for a while. We lucked out with nice weather but this place is absolutely gorgeous, you must go if your dog enjoys being outside, running and playing with other dogs
- AshleyMore than a year agoSo many dogs to play with!
We try to go to this dog park at least once per weekend. Saturday mornings around 10am and Sundays around 11am are the busiest. Most of the dogs are very friendly, as are the humans. Don't forget to bring water for your dog - it runs out fast!
- VinanMore than a year agoAbbie Love the Park
I took my dog Abbie to Quarry Run dog park for the first time the other day. I loved the fact that Abbie could run around and played with other dogs off her leash. Knowing the the park is fenced in give me the state of mind that Abbie is free to run around. We will be back soon its our new favorite place.
- HopeMore than a year agoLots of fun!!!
We took our collie/hound mix there today for the first time. He loved it! We felt good knowing that it was totally fenced in and he was free to be wild and have fun. We will definitely be going back. It would be nice if they kept up the inner fenced in area that I hear is for the smaller dogs.
- AliMore than a year agoGreat day- Beautiful!
We are up on vacation and we picked Portland for the dog friendly things to do. BEWARE: Don't use address listed!! Use intersection of COBB St and OCEAN Ave. That other address on Ocean ave is the wrong way! We had to drive around for a while before we found it. We went over around 2:00 on a Thursday and practically had the whole place to ourselves. We only passed a couple other off leash dogs who were all very nice and under good control by their owners. We did not allow our dogs off leash this time, but it's still a fantastic place to be since it is more of a trail then a traditional 'dog park' It is a completely wooded area that you wouldn't even know you were fenced in. The views like I said were Amazing. You can look over the old Quarry and the place was built over an old landfill but it is breathtaking- so open and natural! I took some pictures and hope to add them too.
