    Narrow park

So, I elected to pay the $8 fee for a one day pass, however there is no guard or anything to swipe or scan. Essentially, you can get into the park without buying a pass, however I never mind supporting dog parks so I was glad to do so. Fyi only for other travelers.

There are two parks, I went in the first one I came upon but they are across the road from one another. They weren't labeled for small or big dogs but given that the big dogs went in the other one we assumed we were in the small dog park.

It's long a narrow but still very spacious. There is seating in the shade which is always a plus. Lots of water sources (no idea if winterized because we came in august). And little kiddie pools to fill up which was nice for our one dog who enjoys that.

There were no other dogs in our section when we went which was a huge bummer. 4 big dogs in the other section.

Recently mowed and well maintained. Would visit again if in the area, wish it was more populated.

Too many mosquitos which is to be expected with the partially filled stagnant water in the pools

I can't really rate this park, I haven't been there yet, so I gave it half rate.
I would like to know what I have to do to sign up and be able to go with my dog.
    Where can I do this?
And is it ok if I go one day previously and try to see if my dog and I like it, and if he feels good in there?
    Thank you!

    Bad Experience

I have reviewed this park before when we first visited the park and we had a wonderful experience with great dogs and friendly people. We have been going to the park for over nearly two years. A new crowd has recently been "taking over" new board members is what I am to understand. I was told my dog was aggressive when he barked upon entering the park and that he would need to be leashed. But when he was playing nicely and another dog barked and chased him (which I was not upset at because I believe it's normal dog behavior), I was told that it was "okay" because they knew the dog and the owner. Well I know my dog too. Very rude people. They actually called the police on me, not because my dog was being aggressive, but because I stood up for my dog and when I called their attention to other dogs who were also chasing and barking, there were baseless excuses. I believe my dog was discriminated against because he is a large German Shepherd. One of the gentlemen who had started the complaining actually came up and pet my dog on the head, which my dog received very nicely, because he likes people and is friendly. But if he was so worried about him being aggressive, I question why he is even touching my dog. I'm sorry, but asking dogs not to bark at a dog park, is like taking children to a playground and telling them to be quiet! I am very disappointed in the rude behavior of the people and a man who rallied with them, charging very loudly that he was a "board member". The police came, and we had a nice talk, in which it was determined that my dog's behavior seemed nice, playful, and that he was interacting with the other dogs just fine. He also felt that this happened to be a case of a problem between the people and not my dog! I will return here, because I pay good money to come to this park. I will be very careful of certain hysterical people who see a German Shepherd, Pitbull, or other large breeds and make stupid assumptions based on their size. What a shame, this used to be a great park.

Best dog Park! We were not sure how our dog would react with other dogs. We thought we would just wait outside the fence and let him get used to the other dogs slowly. The people were so friendly and one nice woman who was getting in her car to leave even came out and offered to go inside with us and our dog and show us around! We went in with her, and our dog had the best time! Beautiful Park, Clean, Poop is cleaned up, great people, and friendly dogs! I am definitely going to buy a pass!

    Great Park

Canine Corners is a wonderful facility. The annual fees are miniscule given the cost to upkeep the property (fencing, paths, structure, mowing, etc.), to provide copious amounts of water consumed by the pets, and (the greatest expense of all) pay for "poop bags" to keep the park tidy. I would have given the park 5 bones, but the occasional "bad owner" (there are no bad dogs) can be a downer. Go in the morning or evening, avoid "rush hours" around 11-1 when it can get a little crowded and the bad owners might be hard to avoid. Yes, Rockford taxes are way high, but Canine Corners is a bargain at twice the price.
