Great for a Hiking
White Pines Forest State Parkseveral different levels of hiking. lots of fishing spots. outhouse buildings. large picnic areas and small picnic areas as well. Fido must be on a leash at all times. There is even a restaurant on the grounds.
Wide trails & Quiet
Castle Rock State ParkGreat horse shoe hiking trail. Dogs must be leashed at all times. The one we hiked seemed to be around a mile. Down hill and up hill, open spaces and heavy wooded areas. Large picnic area on a hill. old school swing set. outhouse building. No water pumps that we seen so bring your own.
It was a place to sleep
Red Roof Inn LexingtonIt was easy to find off I-65. Driving up to the building I got the feeling I was in the shady part of town. There was a “party” on the second floor. It wasn’t loud just a group of men hanging outside the room on the balcony. Drinking & playing music. Walking to our room I noticed a broken down lawn chair outside one of the rooms with a dirty pet bowl next to it. Entering the room we immediately checked for bed bugs. All clear.
For the most part it was a nice room. Until I noticed part of the ceiling which in two spots the paint was chipping. The hotel was definitely pet friendly. When our dog had an accident on the bed the office lady was understanding and gave us clean sheets. Those sheets were so thin they were see through. The comforter had burn marks. There was a lot of dog poop in the patchy grass. It was clean and it was a place to stay that accepted dogs without an additional fee. It's an old hotel that should be updated or prices should be lowered.
