  Huge Play Area

  We spent an hour here with our beagle. There are 3 areas for different sized dogs. The largest area (large dogs) had many different sized pups in it; however, all owners were mindful of their pups so there were no issues. Our beagle felt at home because there were a lot of trees, so she felt like she was hunting in the ‘woods.’ She actually roamed the entire area for the hour. Definitely worth the visit for your pup.

  Open to everyone & travelers

  The whole park is just for dogs! With three off leash areas. Small, large & service N shy pup area. However, many large dogs were in small dog area. I myself have a large dog so it didnt effect me but it did seem unfair to the small dogs. *The bigger dogs that were in smaller side did seem too aggresive to be in small area. Otherwise it's a great park. Supplies water & waste bags, bathrooms & dog wash.

  Great Place

  I think it’s a great place to go to my German Shepherd loves to play with all the dogs the only thing I would have to complain about is some irresponsible owners that don’t watch their dogs and complain too much about the place

  Inconsiderate people

  If you noticed most of the reviews of from over a year ago the park has become too crowded people don't abide by the rules no more then two dogs what a laugh also always have collars on with their rabies tag another laugh they were always fights with the dogs and everybody says Dogs are dogs people don't care they don't pick up the poop and there's a couple of people especially a German Shepherd owner think they own the park Sundays are the worst do yourself a favor bring a leash and walk your dog on the leash side today Sunday a dog was almost killed by the pack the dumbest thing about the whole place is large dogs are considered 33 lb and up how can you put a 35 pound dog in 100 lb dogs crazy Whoever thought of that is an idiot half the people don't pay for parking and they laugh about it when someone tries to put money in the machine they say oh you don't have to pay nobody does and then they complain about the condition of the park try and get a sheriff to come and do something impossible

  it’s freaking great

  I bring my shepherd and pit bull there all the time great people in the big dog section and lots of friendly dogs and space for my dogs to run the only thing I would have to complain about are the little tunnel in the little dog area to be moved to the big dog area for them to play in and how the people in the little dog section complain about my pit bull when their chihuahuas bite and bark the whole time other than that great place!

  BEWARE OF THIS PARK

  The park provides no enforcement of any rules. Handlers bring their pets without the necessary identification of vaccination or even a license Large breed dogs are in the small dog area. Pitbulls, Shepherds, rots and even dobermans are in the small dog side. These people think that if a LARGE BREED DOG is a puppy and under 30lbs it should be on the small dog side.

  The County Sheriff will not enforce this park because it is owned as "Private Property". Many dogs may have diseases since they can not produce documentation or licensing.
  Free means just that, free a place where anything goes. if you care about your pet, DO NOT BRING IT THERE.
  No one pays for parking, dogs are always off leash outside the gates. Everyone SMOKES cigarettes and throw the butts on the ground in the dog play areas. I have been there many times and am writing this in the hope that you will not subject your pet to the lowlifes at this park. It is regulars that always go there and they think they are above the rules and regulations.
  THERE IS NO CONTROL OF ANY RULES THERE---PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS PARK!

  Annual Passes are Available

  I should have checked before I wrote my initial review - Hernando County Parks and Recreation does provide for an annual park pass for Rotary Centennial Dog Park. The cost is $40 for the annual pass.

  Good place to bring the pups

  We have very small dogs (10 and 15 pounds) who are about 18 months old. I have taken them to this dog park twice, and both times the pups have had a great time. From my observations most of the dog owners are friendly and courteous, keep an eye on their dogs and pick up after them. I'm sure there will always be exceptions. The fenced area for the small dogs has one covered picnic table and several other benches throughout. It has running water and a couple of bowls, but I would suggest bringing your own bowl. They also have bags and garbage cans available for cleaning up after your dogs. The cost is $2 for parking - there's a machine at the entrance that will give you a permit tag for your car.

  Each time I took my dogs I was there for about an hour and the pups really enjoyed it - sniffing around, running and playing with the other dogs and meeting new people, which is great for socialization and to get them some exercise.

  It would be nice if the park had a discounted annual pass or something, to avoid having to pay each time and to reduce visitor cost for regular visitors. If so, I might take my dogs there more often.

  Don't go

  Within fifteen seconds of being there, my dog was bitten repeatedly. I immediately left the fenced in area and was in the parking lot for at least twenty minutes. The owners of the attacking dog did not leave the park or even check to see if my dog was ok. Don't trust any owners to only bring friendly dogs there. I will never go back.

  avoid big dog side til 9:15am

  Took my beautiful docile dogs there to roam, they just loved it!! We went in the afternoons and evenings had a GREAT time. I decided to put in on our schedule for every morning . .. so today 12/8 we went on down . .. rain and all! . . .couldn't even get into the proper area for 2 VERY aggressive acting dogs with owners that did not seem to think they should share. I was informed that they are there daily until 9:15am. So I guess no one else gets to enjoy that side until they leave. :-( . . . when I say aggressive . . . both dogs had teeth beared and were lunging, one of them was actually biting the chainlink fence, this started as soon as my two entered the holding area between the two sides. . . .when I let the owners know (they were in deep conversation and unaware) and they didn't seem to care. IS THIS OK?

  leash dog area

  Love the park BUT dogs in leash manditory walking area that are roaming unleashed with agressive, confrontational owners made for a less than enjoyable experience. There should be a leash enforcement person like there is for parking fee enforcement.. I was told to "go into the ground and die"by the woman I asked to please leash her two huge dogs so my wife and our two dogs could pass by. Not nice dog owners!

  Excellent

  I took my puppy there today for the first time. She had a blast. Very clean an well maintained. It costs $2.00 but someone told me you could get a yearly pass for $40. I am looking into that but have not found it yet. Most dogs are friendly but some should not be running around with other dogs. If you are an owner of a snapping dog do not bring it into a area with other dogs. Other than that its a fun place for dogs and owners,

  Very Relaxing

  I went today for the first time and unfortunately had to leave because silly me forgot my cash and cards at home. Parking was only $1 but I did not have it on me. There is a ordinance posted that informs dog owners that dogs must have their license tag and current rabies tag ON them upon entering the park. Unfortunately my puppy is only 4 months old and has not been old enough to get his rabies shot yet. But now that I know what is required I will be thrilled to bring my puppy back because everyone I saw there seems super friendly and the park was extremely clean and set away from the busy town around it. Very peaceful.

  FUN PARK

  I have brought my dog (pitbull) her a couple of times she really enjoys playing and running around but there are a couple of grumpy old dogs that i don't think should be in that section along with there owners but other than that its pretty clean and lots of room to run.

  I love bringing my dog here, and he loves it too! People and dogs are all great. It has become a weekly treat for my pet.

  Overall a Great Park :)

  Great park! Have been bringing my pup for quite some time now and he just loves it! Great place for them to run around and play. I have however come across a few dog owners who have dogs with a temperament and/or don't clean up after them but the responsible dog owners who go out of the way to make sure the park is clean and dogs are safe and having fun out weigh those who don't!

  great park

  We visited the park twice this week while visiting my daughter. Our first visit was great, Friendly people and dogs. The second day we encountered aggressive dogs with owners who did not correct their dogs. Both of these dogs were not fixed. I really like the feel of this park and the cleanliness but I would recommend that all dogs attending should be fixed to limit their aggression

  Nice and Clean

  The first time I came to this park there was only 1 dog in there, which was awesome for my GSD to get acquainted. Chloe, loved the space and she ran and smelled everything in there. My dog had a blast! I thought the park was clean and the owners that were there very responsible, which is essential.
  I don't know, I could be wrong, but I over heard soemthing they they were going to start charging or something so check that out first before you go in case like me you think it's still free to get in there.
  Overall, I recommend the park to anybody.

  Great fun for dogs, no stress to owner

  This park is so well laid out, with separate places for large dogs and smaller dogs. People that visit with their dogs are respectful of keeping the park clean, and always alert to ensure the dogs are all safe and having fun. So far, I have only come across one person who brought an agressive dog in the park.....idiot.
  I heard a rumor that the county was thinking of closing the park due to budget reasons. I can't imagine how closing the park could save $$$. The grounds would still have to be maintained. Thought for the month......put up a park admission box, charging a very small fee and/or donation. Close the park at dusk, to save on lights. Have volunteers help with ground maintenance.

  Very Clean and Very Laid Out

  "Park is well laid out and clean. Very friendly, fun atmosphere opening day. Fairly easy to find. Everyone I spoke to was very appreciative and happy to finally have a place to bring their dogs. Very long overdue. Thank you to the Rotary club!!!"

  Very Impressed!!!

  "We have been visiting the park about 3 or 4 times a week for the past few weeks and are very impressed at how clean it is and how many people are using it. No matter what day or what time of day, there is always someone there with their dog. Very nice people and nice dogs, they all seem to get along and have a great time running around off leash. I have only seen one dog fight, a minor affair and the owner took the dog out immediately. We are from Massachusetts were there are very few dog parks and are very impressed with this one."
